Would stay here again.
The Terrace Hotel is a small, family-run hotel located on Royal Terrace.
We were going to Edinburgh for the Brian Wilson concert on May 26th and were quite late booking our accommodation so there weren't that many affordable options left. In the end we settled for the Terrace Hotel which was a decision we certainly didn't have to regret. As mentioned in other reviews the interior of the hotel is a bit old but in no way does this mean it's dirty or uncomfortable (if anything I think it's quite charming!). The room we had was clean and spacious with a nice view of the garden. A cooked breakfast was included with the room which is hard to beat. I guess my only complaint would be the breakfast hours, they stop serving it at 9 a.m. which can be annoying if you're looking to sleep in but it worked for us since we were only staying for two nights and had to be up early anyway. Then again, it is free of charge so it seems silly to complain. The staff was friendly and we didn't have any issues while staying at the hotel. The location is great. Royal Terrace is a quiet street but if you walk five minutes there are plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs and bus routes. Someone mentioned in another interview that the hotel is situated on top of a hill which worried us a bit but that turned out to be a gross exaggeration; while there is a small hill to climb if you come from the Elm Row side (not sure if you're coming from the other end) the incline is slight and only lasts for about 40 or 50 meters. It would only cause issues if you have a reduced mobility. I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel.
