Genuine family-run warmth accommodation

I took a taxi from Waverly Train Station to the Hotel (£5.50 total cost @ 17/5/15).

Royal Terrace is a quiet street where you can start exploring Edin centre from the nearby Playhouse (buses do not give out change, I bought a day ticket £4 (in 5p/10p2p/20p pieces. Driver wasn't too imprest!) The hotel itself has got real character. The room itself is right at the very top. Lofty. Bathroom is hors de la suite, just opposite - for occupant's sole use. There is no lift. The bed is OK but a little springy for my liking but bedding is good. Now I like complete and utter dark when sleeping hence the major drawback for me was the two skylights above - there're curtains (with a pole used to draw them) but these are translucent and quite inadequate - just as well I had my Sleepmaster (tm) mask, otherwise an it might've been an unwelcome soiree.

Breakfast was very good with gluten free needs met. The tea cup in the room is on the small side, need really bigger ones. The kettle is the old fashioned metal one - which should be changed to more modern ones. Checkout is 10:30 not as laterooms has it at 11am.The owners are very friendly and courteous and this was impressive. Kindly allowing me to store my things for 5 hours till my flight.

Wonderful hotel!

My partner and I adored this hotel.

It's gorgeous. Customer service from all staff was excellent. Our room was lovely and such a comfy bed. Ideally located also!. We will definitely be back.
