Will love to visit again, stayed well enjoyed.
Was told it was a small room on arrival which makes the value of money very poor but although the room was small but it looks great and tidy so will like to visit again so overall experience was fantastic
Wont be back, one night was more than enough.
My weekend away with my girlfriend, visiting friends was brought down to earth with bump with our room.
If we'd of being staying anymore than one night then I would of made a complaint there n then.
We had done the usual checks online and looked for reviews before choosing Arden. It was primarily the room that let us down. And the bathroom!!. - I've a bigger coat cupboard at home.
Am not a small guy by any means and my gf is a size 16 and she could barely fit into the shower in the morning. Needless to say I was unable to use. The room was also very cold and also had issues with damp, there were marks on the wall and a smell of damp as two plug in air fresheners that were not working (bit overkill for such a small room) But to be fair the room and bed linen was clean so plus points there. The room also had a working TV with freeview and a dvd player. But during the night the room got really cold and explained why were advised of the extra blankets in the wardrobe (which appeared to be bigger than the bathroom)
We also had a unique water feature that when the rooms upstairs flushed their toilets it sounded like a flood coming from our "action man" sized bathroom as the water pipes must of ran through there. There was also free wifi but the signal was very weak in our room. So my advice is this - if your given room 1 - Say no and demand an alternative. One other thing we were advised that the door was locked at 10pm so we had to be back before then which resulted in our night out being caught short. I wasn't sure if we had picked this up wrong but we did notice several other guests returning before 10pm too. A continental breakfast is included in the price but a cooked breakfast is extra. For the same price you could visit the local Toby Carvery (less than 2 miles away) for all you can eat cooked breakfast with coffee and toilets you can actually use. As for the continental breakfast it was ok, Yes some of the fruit had seen better days, especially the strawberries - but the blueberries were tasty. I can only compare our stay to the guest house we stayed at in North Wales last year (Min-Y-Don)
The hosts were warm and friendly and really set the bar for what to expect from a guesthouse /BnB - needless to say Arden fell woefully short.
When settling up the bill I was not asked if we had enjoyed our stay or was everything ok with the room as you'd normally expect. Am guessing they knew what the reply would be.
We've already made plans to return to visit our friends and sample more of the night life that Edinburgh has to offer and we wont be returning to Arden.
