Very convenient, very cheap
Hard to find the way in - it's now called 'Pendulum' but the directions still refer to 'Days Inn' - and a labyrinth of corridors to traverse to get from reception to the rooms.
(It's a clever idea: basically a hall of residence, with a hotel front desk to let spare rooms through.) Wifi only in the public areas so it would have been nice to have somewhere free of muzak. Room basic but entirely functional. Mine even had a nice open outlook over a lawn, don't know if they all do. All perfectly acceptable for a very cheap quiet night right next to the city centre. Excellent value for money.
Not so good, great service was the only thing to stop me demanding a refund
On arrival, we were greeted by great service and directed to our rooms.
One of our rooms appeared to be ok (except the used cotton bud on the window ledge). My room smelled very damp but nothing visibly wrong. Whilst getting ready to go out on the evening of our arrival, I took a shower in the room en suite, it was blocked and the basin filled up which is extremely unhygienic. It didn't spill over, yet nearly all of the carpet in my room was drenched and it became apparent where the damp smell came from. The hotel manager gave me a key to a new room, I had to fight to get the key to work in the door, once I entered the room smelled of sewage, the light didn't work in the room, the curtain rail was hanging by a thread and I discovered the room smelled of sewage because the toilet didn't flush. I ended up leaving a pair of very expensive boots in the hotel on my return home and a member of staff named Gustavo went the extra mile to see that I got them sent to me, which of course I was very happy about, other than that, there isn't anything positive to say.
