Make sure your tetanus is up to date!
Upon arrival my partner and I were allocated our wheelchair accessible room.
So we took the lift up, only to be greeted with 6 steps just before the door to our room. We were allocated another room only to find a walk in shower with a step. But as we were only staying 1 night I decided it wasn't worth, yet again joining the long que of other people, also waiting complaining, in reception....... so we let the shower go. However, the room was vile at best. It hadn't seen a vacuum in months. There were no towels, not a single one. The window catches were hanging off. There was cigarette ash on the floor, wallpaper coming off, damp, mould. I could go on..... I don't normal write reviews, because my partner and I aren't picky where we stay.... and believe me, we've stayed in some awful places..... but my partner joked he would need a tetanus after visiting this hotel!. And I think that pretty much sums it up!
We arrived in a downpour, numerous buckets were catching the leaks.
A woman called Tracy that worked on reception was very good, the rest of reception staff fell short. This was once clearly a splendid hotel but unless they introduce a good repair and maintain procedural policy, it is doomed. Parts of the hotel including the dining room were dirty, we only ate there once. In my room there was brick dust on the window seal throughout my stay. Cleaners failed to leave toilet rolls, milk tea sugar. As I cleaned my own room and made the beds, what were they doing. The entertainments team worked very hard, well done to them. Britannia hotels need to take control here.
