Russ Hill Hotel
I paid £12.50 for a carvary which had 4 items of vegetables on which I only liked 3 and 2 of them were potato,2nd day had rice which was a small cups worth that was stuck together and couldn't separate (it was like rubber) your phone reception was absolutely terrible and the wifi only works in certain areas on the building and that's just as bad,I don't see why I should have to go sit in the bar or restaurant just to call my family as I work away from home.id only stay here again because it's cheap as you don't work away from home to spend a fortune on hotels.
avoid at all costs
This place is appalling.
I booked a room for 2 nights for me, a 3 year old child and a dog. I emailed in advance to make sure the room was suitable,
When I got there - the day was hot, over 30 degrees - the room was little more than a cupboard. It was off an outside courtyard/thoroughfare. There was a glass door and four walls - no windows. The "room" was stifling. If you closed the door - like you do - - as there was no window - the heat was unbearable. My child and dog were sweltering. There was also no bath, just a shower, despite my request.
I went immediately to reception to complain, I was told there was no option and given a fan - which did not work - I returned it and was given another which fell apart leaving the moving blades exposed - dangerous with a toddler.
Other Guests overhearing the situation approached me and were so horrified at what we were expected to cope with they offered us use of their room and bathroom but I could not leave my dog in the hot room to do so.
As I could not move to another hotel so late I had to resort to leaving the room door - the only and outside door - open so that there was air circulating. We were completely unsafe, I had to barricade the door with garden chairs that I obtained from the grounds so that my son and dog did not wander out of the room. As the "room" was tiny the door was next to the door so night I "slept" in full view of other guests walking past the door and in full light from the outside light which was on all night. I had to tie my dog to the radiator. I felt completely humiliated and vulnerable and my dog was unsettled and restless (and therefore so were we) by people walking noisily past all night. I moved to another hotel the next morning. When I checked out and complained the staff were visibly laughing - I asked them to stop and they did not - but one was instructed by her superior to go to another part of the office. I have asked repeatedly for a refund and been refused - offered 10% vouchers to stay again. Now going to Trading Standards and have consulted my solicitor. This place is utterly utterly appalling.
Great price, hard-working staff. But fire alarm at 4.30am.. not ideal.
I was told to wait anywhere between 1 hour to 90 mins, or more for the confirmation from Laterooms to be sent to the hotel, (I had my own confirmation, and booked about 30 mins before) - luckily I had other things to do so I went away and came back later that evening.
The staff were lovely enough and hard-working. Great price for £41 for a bed & shower anywhere. The only big issue was the whole hotel waking up at 4.30am because of a fire alarm which lasted at least 30 mins - I was unaware whether there was an actual fire or not, but I wasn't physically on fire, so I could only imagine it was a false alarm, just massively annoying at that time of the morning.
The room were no better than a hostel !!!!!!!
We will never stay there again and we certainly won't be recommending it.
I stayed for one night bed was comfortable breakfast was buffet styikso was self service great selection of hot and cold staff were triedly and very helpful and the bathroom was en suite with both shower and bath
I arrived they the hotel did not have my booking, it took over an hour to get my key room.
I was on a business trip and the wifi only worked in the reception area which when you are trying to do work is not ideal. The food was awful and I ate elsewhere after eating there on the first night
Very basic room, staff were friendly enough.
We didn't stay long it was a flying visit but the hotel decor was very old and the room was small. It was good enough for what we needed but wouldn't want to stay there for anything more than just a flying visit.
Russ Hill Hotel
The gent on the check in desk was by far one of the best i've encounted.
Friendly, approachable and goes out of his way.
photoshopped refugee hotel
The photo is photoshopped .
They must have worked hard on it. It's actually quite scruffy and nothing like the photo. You'll be greated by about 12 young refugee men that loiter around the entrance using the free wifi.. I don't have a problem with refugees but you should be aware that there also many families living there. Although I did see two other guests.
A really friendly hotel with very helpful staff
Will definitely use this hotel again
