3Self Classified Hotel Ratings explained
Charlwood nr Gatwick Airport , Charlwood, RH6 0EL
The Hotel is situated in the village of Charlwood only 4 miles from Gatwick Airport. The hotel was built in the 19th Century as a manor house set in nine acres of Surrey Countryside. Good stay
Great food and value for money however for business purposes the Wi-Fi access is not very good. There is unfortunately no internet access in the rooms and the access points in the reception and bar is very limited and slow.
If this was improved that would be perfect!

Bar area too small
The BAR area was far to small for the size of the hotel, and there was only one person serving at the bar
you had to wait a very long time for a drink and to get some thing to eat.

Decline of a Grand Old lady
Very clean. Check-in good. Room was windowless - more like a bunker. Wallpaper peeling all over the place. Bundles of cables on show. A much loved old lady in terminal decline.

My room was clean and comfortable, lovely hot water to shower and handy on the ground floor. I did pay for breakfast but had to catch shuttle for Gatwick and dining room was not open before 7a.m. The hotel literature in rooms need to state breakfast times and needs to be added to the website.

One night business stop over
I stayed in room 262, clean and comfortable, space is limited but as only sleeping not working did not pose a problem. En suite does not have any heating so a bit nippy in the morning when I got out of the shower. Room heater did heat up nicely once I had put it on high, comment reference tv would have been better on the wall or fixed higher, had to look down at it from bed. Overall again a very enjoyable short stay at Russ Hill Hotel definitely be back.

Very old and dated
The room I had was ok but had no windows to any wall, there was a skylight but this was out of reach.
The room also had an air vent in the wall over the bed and there was a very strong blast of cold air coming out of it wich overpowered the small electric heater, it felt very windy and noisy with the wind rushing out of the vent. I would stay here again but would need a different room. There are also other guests leaving for there flights at all hrs of the night San early morning.
