The room was perfectly clean and the staff friendly enough.
The hotel is in a fantastic location, very close to South Kensington tube station and less than 5 minutes walk from the National History Museum and National Science Musuem. The Royal Albert Hall is also a very short walk and very easy to find. Despite this the hotel itself was not noisy, and there was a nice selection of restuarants and pubs minutes away. I didn't eat at the hotel so I can't comment on the quality of food.
We were given a twin room.
When we got our room (40), we decided to have a coffee. The milk in the small cartons was off. Being a small room and being a hot day the room was like a oven. Went to put air conditioning on, the switch was covered with tape, the air conditioning was broken. I went to reception and complained, we were moved to another room, 102 I think. We placed our bags in and went out for a meal thinking the room was better. On our return late that night we could not believe the state of the bathroom and shower, there was no blinds. The window was normal glass not frosted and was overlooked by several windows. The toilet seat was broken. The shower had the window blinds in it. There was pigeon muck on the floor. In the morning we were put back into room 40 so we could shower and toilet without being overlooked. We stayed in room 40 for the remainder of our stay. The air conditioning was never fixed. We were given a free breakfast for the two mornings we were there. Thank God The Who at Hyde Park were fantastic because the hotel was so disappointing. A fare price for this hotel would be £10.00 a night.
Comfortable Oasis of Character
We stayed midweek and found the hotel to be well situated for transport in an interesting area.
The room itself was clean and a good size, warmer in character than most with an elegance which may have seen better days but is still of good standard. We didn't eat in the hotel because a few hundred steps away is a delightful selection of varied quality eateries for all times & tastes. Thoroughly enjoyed the short stay.
Clean and comfortable
Clean and comfortable room.
Everything worked as it should. Well done !
Excellent location and overall good value
Very close to South Kensington Underground station which is on both the Piccadilly and District and Circle Lines.
Friendly staff and nice furnishings. We had problems shutting a window and whilst the bed looked fancy it could have been more comfortable.
Size of room
I've had several single rooms, none have been as small as this.
Squeeze to get into toilet, no room between shower wall and main wall where washbasin was. Shoulders touched both.
character but worn out and in need of renovation
Bathroom: broken tiles, flush didn't work well.
Shower good and hot water plentiful.
Beds comfy, lacks power sockets. Superb area and full of character. Would rather stay further out and get a better qualify room for less money. Learned something here.
Room was very tired and showing signs of wear - especially the bathroom.
hot water rather erratic.
A night at the theatre
Very convenient for the Royal Albert Hall and good value.
nothing like the description
Standard double room. having looked at the pictures we were expecting something quite reasonable. Even at a reduced rate i would have got a better room at a Travelodge. Small radiator covered by thick curtain (useless). Air con on wall with masking tape over the switch, Dehumidifier in the room (???) Toilet, No heating at all, could not face getting into the shower. Used all the towels on the floor as it was so cold. Double bed was two singles pushed together and a struggle not to fall into the ever increasing gap. no spare blankets so the electric fire we found in the wardrobe was on all night. This is such a shame as its location is great for museums, Albert hall and some very good shops.
