A pleasant break
One night away from home that felt like more.
We enjoyed the spa facilities and the meals.
Not so happy
We booked two rooms, 206 and 204 one for us and one for daughter and young gran daughter .
Well 206 was very smelly and had no soap in either dispensers. Also the card didn't work in the door on room 206 the maintenance man told her to leave it open'. The television in both rooms kept going off channel. We went to use the swimming pool (which we had promised our granddaughter ) and it was out of use.. The breakfast really was poor the hot food was Luke warm, and not much choice of anything else. We have stayed here many times, and it is going down hill fast. We commute from Cornwall and expect better than we got probably won't stay there again
The whole hotel is tired and weary, and badly in need of updating.
The reception staff were friendly when I checked in, but I had a problem with the LateRooms booking and this proved a nightmare to sort out. It did however get sorted - but it took a lot of phone calls and and emails before that happened. My room had lots of niggly things wrong with it, but as I was only there for one night I didn't make a fuss about them. The breakfast was ok - nothing special. But for the price, I suppose the stay was value for money but I'm not sure I'd stay there again.
Very happy customer
Very clean apart from the carpet in the hallway to the bedrooms.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Only downside was that my room rate did not include breakfast while other family members who booked separately for the same price or less did. Other than that a very enjoyable stay and would stay again if the need arises.
Will not be rushing back - beware breakfast is not served till 10 as stated!
On paper this hotel ticks all the boxes.
However, it left a lot to be desired. The check in experience was fine. Room was fairly standard, although the edges of the room had clearly not seen a vacuum cleaner in a while. Bathroom was very clean. So far, ok (ish). I was not told where the restaurant was so ended up eating in the bar. The whole bar area was very cold and had a very strange (cold) atmosphere. The place did not feel well kept or tidy. Food was fine, although I had to ask for some of the things included with my meal as they were not provided initially. Service was pretty poor and no-one checked if I was happy with my food.
The following morning I used the gym and pool facilities which were good, if a little tired in places. However, the strangest part of my stay was breakfast. The guest information in the room stated breakfast was served until 10am. Having used the gym I headed to breakfast at 9:05am. As I entered the room there was no sign of a staff member. There was one couple eating breakfast and an array of uncleared tables. I found my own table and helped myself to some food from the buffet. After returning to my seat I needed to find some cutlery, still no staff so had to wander the room until I eventually found some unused cutlery on a table at the back of the room. Eventually a staff member appeared but said nothing to me. The other couple in the restaurant asked for coffee (there was none left), milk (there was none left) and some other things. It was clear they were finding the experience as strange as i was (which we later discussed and they confirmed). I helped myself to hot food, which looked like it had been sitting there a long while. Shortly after (about 9:20am) another staff member came and turned off the hot plate. I thought it a little strange given there was still 40 minutes of breakfast service remaining. A short while later the buffet was cleared. I was glad I had arrived when I did and not stayed longer in the pool. A few minutes later another hotel guest entered the room. It turned out she had been setting up for a conference in the hotel and now arrived to eat. She scanned the depleted buffet and was then told by a staff member from the other side of the fairly large room that breakfast finished at 9. Whilst it started to make sense of my experience this was odd, given that it clearly said in the printed information that breakfast was served till 10. I mentioned this and the waiting staff just said that "the room information needs to change". I am sorry, that is not the case. Until that room information is changed, what needs to happen is that breakfast needs to be served until 10am. The lady that arrived after me was left with a piece of toast and a cup of coffee. Nothing else. This experience alone, and the lack of attention by the staff, as well as being witness to numerous other complaints from other guests means I will not be rushing back. Disappointing.
good rooms bad breakfast
Breakfast was awful Plates too hot to pick up and trays of food were tepid.
Bacon tasted stewed the rest not much better. "hotplates" were not kept filled properly to the extent that despite not many people in the room at 9am one tray was empty and the rest meanly filled. no complaints about the room I was more than happy there.
Front of house pretty good, room was adequate but corridors very tired - need attention.
Stay at park inn
Carpets dirty in the corridors not a good start, curtains not hanging right in the room, overlooked by flats and lighting not good
ideal for what I needed
The hotel was located close to where I needed to be for 2 day business trip.
Although clean and friendly staff the rooms looked tiered and in need of refreshing decorativley. Bed was comfortable and bedding good & clean. Towels in bathroom were again clean but old. The bathroom was clean but again showed signes of age. Hotel had a spa. I used the pool twice which made a nice plus point for accommodation at this price. I didn't eat in the hotel so can not comment on the food. Overall - would stay again and was good value for money - ideal for 1/2 nights business stay.
Park Inn by Radisson Harlow
Nice hotel for an overnight stay when attending a event within the hotel, and staff very accommodating.
