Santos Higham Farm Hotel

Bearing in mind the price we paid the hotel was very comfortable.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel contacted us prior to our departure advising us of a wedding reception in the evening and offered us an upgrade to a bigger and quitter room.

Lovely spot with a great team

We stayed in the Sherwood Suite - a huge room with connected bathroom with lovely freestanding jacuzzi type bath.

The hotel is in a stunning spot, with a viewing terrace in the car park offering a panoramic vista of the Amber Valley. The staff were all great - extremely friendly and helpful. Evening meal was excellent quality whilst not cheap, felt like a fair price. The restaurant had been moved to the bar to accommodate a wedding at the venue, but the improvisation worked well fbiugh for me (not so sure about the wedding DJ's playlist though!). Overnight the wedding party was audible as I suspect it was directly beneath the room - luck of the draw for me, but if others need to relax in quiet before midnight then it could prove a problem. I've never slept on a waterbed before, I'm pleased to have tried it - won't be doing it again, haha. Breakfast was included and again relocated due to the wedding - a good selection of cereals, fruit and yogurts and self serve hot breakfasts too, with the waiting team bringing drinks and toast. It was good if not excellent, personally I prefer a few more choices on cooked breakfasts but it was definitely a cut above most self-serve breakfasts. Our stay felt good value for money, the hotel and team are great, a shame about the wedding but that's always a chance you take.
