Great Potential, Lovely Location, few things let this place down
Room - clean and fabulous view.
Twin beds were standard single size. I've stayed in hotels elsewhere of a comparable cost where twin beds were large twins. Mattresses were a bit uncomfortable. Room was extremely hot. Fan provided in room. Arrived evening and staff were friendly and approachable. Had evening meal. Nicely presented, but quality could be better for price. Beef was a bit chewy, but overall was edible and okay. Breakfast - not great. Not all buffet items were out when we arrived. More items put out as we were leaving. Buffet items were not labelled. Egg was overcooked and hard. Bacon had a large strip of soft white fat. Checkbacks were not done at either evening meal or breakfast. Didn't use the pool or leisure facilities as they were already closed by the time we arrived and didn't open until after we checked out in the morning. Would stay again, but only because there is limited choice as to places to stay in this area. This hotel was a special offer through late rooms, so okay for the price paid. Would only stay here again on a special offer - wouldn't pay full regular price. If no special offer and I wanted to be in the Newton Abbot area I'd look for a hotel further afield and travel in.
Woke up to a great view of the Teign Estuary.
I got there late, so I didn't sample the restaurant in the evening.
The room was modern, comfortable and very quiet. I woke up to a great view of the Teign Estuary. A view I would happily wake up to every day. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. They were temporarily overwhelmed by a coach load of German tourists who all turned up for breakfast at exactly the same time. Though they did seam to be coping quite well.
