We stayed there for a night after spending the day in Southampton and not wanting to return to London on the night.
A very lovely place, very homely, for all the right reasons. Comfy, spacious room, superb four poster bed - slept like logs - window overlooking the garden, peace and quiet galore. The perfect antidote to our hectic lives in London. On Sunday morning we had a very nice breakfast and then spend the most part of the morning in the spa. It seems a very child friendly place, as there were several (very) little people in the spa, clearly enjoying themselves in the warm water. Will definitely book again and bring our little person.
Not a four star.
The hotel is tired looking from the outside, The hotel room was clean but for a four star I expected a better condition, in need of TLC.
The bathroom tiles grouting was black in several places and the side panel on bath was badly dented. Plenty of tea and coffee but would have been nice to have bottled water. The bar felt like a gentleman's club, quite dated. Tables left dirty for quite a time before being cleared. Tea and coffee served in the bar was weak and pot was only two thirds full. Very disappointing for a four star!. Food in restaurant was excellent in the evening, breakfast was disappointing as not many choices for full breakfast, only fried, no grilled or scrambled, not ideal for those watching weight but needing more sustenance for long journey. Spa not visited but hotel did not give me the feeling of being pampered. Grounds to hotel are lovely, if the hotel wasn't as shabby would have been a lovely stay
