Disappointed

My booking led me to believe we were staying in a castle hotel which was to be the highpoint of the birthday trip for my wife.

In reality we were in an average room at double what we had been paying for such a room. We tried to make the best of it by heading for the hot tub after a long day of driving only to find that it closed at 9:15PM. While not the fault of the hotel there was an owl outside our room who hooted all night and there was a fire alarm at 7AM when we had planned to sleep in a little. Breakfast was OK but they ran out of orange juice. The manager did refund part of our cost for the problems which was good.

Lovely castle

Rooms were not in in castle as the title would suggest.

Room furniture very dated. All chipped. Must have moved it from the original castle building. Marks on walls, room and bathroom needs to be up dated. Food was lovely in restaurant, very busy, tables very closed, you could have a conversation with the next table. Service slow due to the amount of diners. Reception did not have the information that we asked for. Internet was down nearly for a whole day. Had to phone home for them to look up the internet for us.
