The Royal Hotel
I had a single room.
It was a very bright room looking down onto High Street so was a bit noisy with traffic. Quietened after eight o' clock so wasn't a real problem. There were no towels in the room but was given them when I asked. There was plenty of tea and coffee provided. I didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on the food but the bar area looked friendly and inviting. I left early so missed breakfast but was given a packed lunch for my journey. The staff were very friendly. I have stayed before and would stay again.
Nice hotel in a lovely small Scottish town.
This was our third time of staying at the Royal Hotel so we knew what to expect.
The standard rooms are very basic and have no character so we paid extra for a superior room. This was in the main hotel as we had hoped and was a large room with a king size bed. Whilst everything is a bit basic we had all we needed and it was clean. The shower was powerful and hot and the room was quiet. We were told on arrival that if we returned back to the hotel after 11pm we would need to call the hotel to be let in. This wasn't a problem really but I don't generally take my phone out with me in the evening so it was a little inconvenient and we had that slight worry in case it wasn't that straightforward in reality. Anyway it was and we were let in as promised. Breakfast was lovely and checking out was pretty straight forward.
