Lovely b&b, great for single night stay
A great find for people who want to visit York but only stay for one night - so many guest houses will only accept bookings for a minimum of 2 nights at the weekend.
Lovely building, quite a hike from the railway station when we first arrived, but not bad at all going as far as the centre where we spent most of our time. We had the attic room at the front, with a lovely view towards the Minster, and squirrels in the trees over the road. There were only the 2 of us but there was a fold out bed for a child available. Nice big bathroom and powerful shower. Breakfast was very tasty. The proprietors were welcoming enough, but not particularly chatty.
Stayed at Bowen House between christmas and new year for 2 nights, it is a fantastic location less than a 10 minute walk from the city walls.
Owners very helpful with maps etc, lovely room on the top floor all amenities you would need and to top it all a well cooked breakfast each morning. Would definitely stay again.
