Stay at Maidstone Mercure Hotel
Ideal place as stop off before crossing the Channel.
Some lovely countryside with quaint villages abound the area, which came as quite a surprise.
Needs some TLC!
The rooms in this hotel felt dated, with old fashioned draughty windows.
I had a real mixed experience with customer service, from being left standing at the reception desk without even eye contact, while the girl finished whatever she was doing on her computer, to lovely service. I also found the food really bland, and ended up going elsewhere on my last night!
