Good value for money
We paid around £60 for a family room for one night.
We were only two but I booked the family room to have more space. The double bed was massive and very comfy but the pillows were a bit hard.
We had a tv, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, tea and coffee facilities. The room and bathroom were very clean although we did find a bit of chewing gum stuck to the side of the bed. The only criticism was that there was no bathroom door!. So you had to go in the shower and the toilet with no door to close. Luckily I was with my partner so this didn't matter so much but I wouldn't like to be in that situation with a friend or colleague. The swimming pool and gym are really good. We used the facilities twice. The guy on the gym reception was lovely. We didn't eat at the hotel so I'm not sure what the good is like. All in all a good hotel for a short stay.
Quality hotel, nice staff. But of an odd building
The design of the hotel struck me as being a repurposed hospital the moment I pulled up outside.
We were happy with the availability of free car parking.
There was an abondoned horse tied up in the hotel grounds. I later learned that this is not uncommon, as there is a sanctuary close by & the former owners of the horses sometimes leave them close by to avoid welfare fees. If this keeps happening, why does the hotel not have fences to keep them out.
The ceiling of our room (#133) made up part of a staircase & the room shook whenever someone used them. I'm not sure what could be done about that, but it was irritating.
The oddest thing about the whole experience was the en-suite. I've never heard of an en-suite that doesn't have a door. The wc had a glass door, but that was as useful as, well... A glass hammer.
