Night away to walk Snowdan and visit Zip World
My boyfriend and I needed somewhere close to stay after walking Snowdon and close to Zip World for the following day so the location of this accommodation was perfect.
20 mins to both places. Morrisons and Asda 1 min drive away. The staff at the pub who welcomed us to check in couldn't have been nicer, the lady at reception recommended us a lovely Cantonese Restaurant were we went to get take out and eat back at our room and was just what we needed after a long day walking Snowden. We didn't try the food there for dinner but it was busy. I can imagine sitting outside for a lovely meal on a summers evening would be gorgeous, a nice Mediterranean feel, although further down the road it did seem a bit rowdy & it was a Sunday night, but it depends what you like, it didn't lack atmosphere.
Parking: £5 for the stay (very tight to park and get out of if you are a fairly large car. i.e BMW. Or they offer you a free permit for car parking around the corner, but we decided to pay for onsite parking so our car was close by. They do offer for you to leave you luggage at reception if you do want to use the permit to save carrying your bags. They also give you a map of the area.
Room: This is around the corner from the pub/check in, 30 second walk and is located on a little road. The security is good, they give you a card to allow access into every door. We booked the Double Suite with Brekie offer from Late rooms. £72. We chose a suite as this was only a few pounds more from a standard double and had a kitchen with cooker, fridge, plates, cups, but no food or water, no towels, washing up liquid. Had a kettle with tea/coffee, mini milks, and biscuits. Pros: Great directions in an email the hotel send you directly, got there very easily. Good Location for what we wanted, nice kitchen, big plasma tv, toiletries in bathroom, nice big soft bath towels, nice powerful hot shower, ironing board, hairdryer, yummy good sized brekie and pot of tea. Great service at check in, lady was lovely. Also lady who was at brekie, she was lovely we weren’t sure if Zip World would still be open with the bad weather and she offered to call them and find out, how nice. Cons: Room didn't feel luxury at all, it was big but it did look a bit old fashioned, queen sized bed was 2 singles put together, room smelt weird, we were put on the ground floor and people walked past our window until very late and early in the morning, same as cars. The bathroom didn't have the luxury feel the pictures show, we didn't ask for a ground floor room or easy access but we were put in this room with special shower doors & a seat for the shower for disabled use and it wasn’t necessary for us and in a whole made it lose the luxury feel for a couple that the hotel promises. Apparently there are 36/37 rooms and there are a lot of stairs so she said a ground flloor to save us walking, but it would have been nice to given the choice. Maybe the rooms on the hugher floors are nicer. Seagulls kept me up for most of the night, I read a review about this before booking and thought how silly, but I know what this person means, they didn't stop and I had a really bad night’s sleep because of it. Do Seagulls not sleep??. My boyfriend always wears ear plugs as he is a light sleeper so he was fine. Bed was comfy, nice pillows.
Brekie: This was back in the pub so you have to leave your accommodation building to walk to the pub, but again this just takes you 30 seconds. I had the full welsh brekie which was yummy and plenty of it, my boyfriend had kippers and he said they were undercooked. Coffee was awful but tea was great.
This place seems like a popular place in the area to eat. Was buzzing for a Sunday night.. I am not one for wanting to go back to the same place if I can help it unless I really love the place. It would be nice to eat outside on a warm evening and venture around the area more so I might return if in the area. But I wouldn't stay there again because of the noise and it lacked the cosy feeling we really needed after a long and wet day out. This is very good value for money though.
