Fonab Castle Hotel
|5||Visit Scotland Assessed Hotel||Ratings explained|
Think ‘central-casting’ Scottish Baronial Castle and you’ll come up with one of Scotland’s most magnificent and mind-blowing places to stay – Fonab Castle. Opened in 2013 at ‘no expense-spared’ by the Clark family, Fonab has already established itself as the premier hotel in the area. Fonab Castle Hotel is unique, luxurious and, above all, an experience. Little wonder that guests have described their stay at the Castle as faultless with one guest describing her stay as a ‘fairy tale’ experience.
Individually designed bedrooms designed by mother and daughter team Joanne Clark and Becky Cross are nothing less than indulgent with bathrooms boasting fluffy towels and superb toiletry products. The inspiration comes from the romance and colour of the surrounding Perthshire Highlands.
There are two excellent restaurants; the Fonab Brassiere and the Sandemans Fine Dining restaurant offering the finest in Scottish fare. On warmer days diners may choose to dine al fresco on the terrace overlooking the loch. The cellars (over 200 bins) have a choice of wines to suit all tastes and pockets and what is quite likely to be one of the largest selection of whiskies and gin in Scotland.
Those who wish to pamper themselves there’s state-of-the-art destination spa opening in late Autumn 2014 while golfers can, subject to handicap and tee times, play at the world-famous Gleneagles. If you plan on walks through the countryside, don't forget the dog - well behaved dogs are more than welcome in the soon to open state-of-the art kennels.
