What a beautiful place to stay.
We stayed in the Reiver Suite for 2 nights and had a truly wonderful short but sweet holiday. All the reviews below have got this place spot on. There's loads of room for a king size bed, large TV, seating area and a chaise longue ideal for a mid afternoon snooze. The bathroom was a delight. We really appreciated the large bath and separate shower cabinet. The breakfasts are fantastic. I'd loved to have stayed longer to try everything on the menu. Pam is a lovely lady who couldn't do enough to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Highly recommended. We'd love to come back in the winter to make the most of the log fire.
Amazing place with great hosts and incredible breakfast!
We found Abbotshaw House on Trip Advisor after looking for places near Kielder Forrest and were really enticed by the excellent reviews from others.
When we arrived Pam met us at the door and made us a cup of tea while we settled into the room. She spent a good half an hour with us talking about the farm and surrounding area which we really appreciated.
There are some beautiful walks to be had around the farm with the Waverly Line running straight through it and a lovely river with some interesting wildlife about. The breakfasts are amazing. The Full Scottish is enormous and tasty – it was a great start to the day and saw us right through until teatime. We also tried the eggs Benedict, aga cooked porridge and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon – all top quality and delicious. Eggs are all from the hens on the farm with the most orange yolk we'd ever seen. We would highly recommend spending some time with Pam and Tom on the farm, it's really interesting to watch them work and to discuss the animals and day-to-day running of the place.
Two beautiful dogs, Chip and Cocoa, love a good fuss when they're not busy rounding up the sheep. The room that we stayed in was big with a large, very comfortable bed. The en-suite had a huge bath and a brilliant, powerful shower. The secret to what makes this place so good is Pam and Tom. They're wonderful, thoughtful people who really care about their guests. Can't wait for our next visit!
