'shabby' but not so chic
The room fell well below the normal standard I would expect for the price, the hotel rooms are in serious need of refurbishment.
The TV was only on for 10 minutes in the evening and the electrics tripped, turning off all power to that wall, including the heating. Whilst in the shower I tried to move the shower head as it wasn't high enough (kept slipping down) and the whole shower fell down, a serious H & S concern. I asked for a gown and extra pillows but there were none. The coat hangers in the wardrobe were so cheap that after my clothes had hung on them for only one night, became misshapen and were unlikely to return to the correct shape. The breakfast was mediocre and the dining room cold (I appreciate it was winter). I can see what the owner's are trying to do (the room was clean and contemporary in style which was nice) but they would really have to spend some money and refurbish to a much better standard to charge £67 a night, it just wasn't worth that. The aspect to the room was lovely and overlooked the park, the whole place has the potential to be something really special, it just needs a lot of money spent on it.
