About the hotel
At the exit for Ponte de Lima Ponte da Barca, we find the Casa de Crasto, whose dominant feature is an interesting tower. Located in the parish of Ribeira, belonged in the seventeenth century, Francisco de Mello Pereira, Knight Habit of Christ and son of Lapa de Mello Pereira Maltese, and Commander of Sregin Santáo, who served King John IV. The story of the first master of the house is curious and could well serve as inspiration for a plot of tragicomedy.
Francisco Pereira de Mello married D. Geneva Calheiros Jacome, daughter of Lord of the House of Calheiros, who accused her husband of helplessness, refusing to live well in their company. As the litigation dismissed in favor of her husband, went to this Calheiros, accompanied by his brothers and servants to bring his wife by force. Appearing in the house, was soon killed by a shot. The sister, D. Maria Fagerdas saw it, they started shouting from the window, calling the servants. These came forth in such great numbers that Mellos retreated, but not without, the fray, not just stay dead husband D. Geneva, like his brother Frei José dos Anjos, Garcia Pereira de Mello and a servant. D. Geneva and her mother retired to a convent of Viana and ace created refuge in Galicia. After decades of its other owners, Francisco José Barbosa Perre, damaged the house in search of an alleged treasure. For the restoration work that is limited to replacement of the chapel tower, Perre Francisco architect would charge Alipio Pereira Maia. Today, the house belongs to Gracinda Pimenta da Conceição Lopes, who welcomes guests in plants recovered and functional.
