About the hotel

Rectory farm, conveniently placed 1 mile from Cambridge city centre, is surrounded by 50 acres of private fields and woods. A few minutes by car, or a 40-minute walk, will take you to the magnificent Kings College, punting on the river and the delightful 'backs'. The house is set in a beautiful, mature two-acre garden which leads to fields where horses and sheep graze.

We endeavour to provide a friendly, high-quality service, and our guests have the use of a tennis court (all year) and heated outdoor pool (summer). A mere five-minute walk is the Madingley Park & Ride which has buses every 10 minutes to Cambridge city centre.

Rectory Farm

Good clean and warm room but they didn't have a cots and the toilet seat was moving.

Dirty, mismanaged, overpriced and unimpressive

Booked a one night stay through late rooms for a birthday visit to Cambridge, and because looked impressive in photographs.

Clearly they haven't understood the concept of a Bed and Breakfast stay, (over)charging guests extra for a very ordinary breakfast. When we arrived, receptionist actually argued we hadn't included breakfast in booking, which we did - she was actually talking us out of paying extra, and had to call manager for basic Inquiry. After arguing to get what we had actually booked, we were shown to a tired, dirty and unimpressive room in the chalet accommodation. Can only hope brown stain in toilet was limescale, but a problem that certainly could have been improved with a little time, care and effort. Have to vacate rooms by 10:00 am "to give time for cleaning for next guests", but saw no evidence made on our behalf. Spent a sleepless, uncomfortable night on a lumpy mattress that was clearly on its last legs. Having paid ten pounds extra per person for breakfast, left wondering what we paid thick end of £100 for one night for. All problems could be resolved with some basic common sense and elbow grease. Very disappointing.
