we stayed at the glendarroch for a weekend while visiting family, this b&b was exceptional value.when we arrived we were greeted warmly by Mae,who showed us our room and explained how things worked etc,the room was clean and the bedding emaculate,we where very happy with all the facilities on offer and would recommend the full scottish breakfast...it was huge and very well cooked.
we will be back in the summer to visit and will be staying here again.
Our experience at Glendarroch
On arrival we were met by mae the owner of this B&B who was very nice and polite.
She showed us to a nice room with a double and single bed which we were happy to stay in. Oops then there was a problem that coincidentally my brothers wife had booked a twin room via Late rooms and guess what?. Yes this was the twin room. So we were then shown to another quite nice looking room which appeared to have a huge bed. I asked Mae if it was king size. She nodded and confirmed it was. Great. we thought and took the room straight away. Now then. This is what we found. The king size bed was in fact two singles pushed together. The mattresses were very hard and lumpy. And have you ever tried to sleep close to each other in two single beds pushed together. Well let me tell you. That edge bit of the beds when they meet is like trying to sleep on a knife edge. Very poor quality of bed in my opinion. It didn't end there. The duvet on the bed was quite thin given the time of year in Bonnie cold Scotland. What made it worse was the heating was hardly on. Turned down at the mains I think. We were freezing all night and had very very little sleep.
We spoke to the owners in the morning and told them about the problem and the heating was turned up immediately probably to the max. We were now sweltering. Hey. But the breakfast. Great breakfast. Nice and clean breakfast with toast and tea or coffee. I enjoyed that the most about Glendarroch. My partner didn't think the same however. Maybe because she doesn't like eating hair with her breakfast. She discretely plucked the hairs off her plate and left the rest. Strange though that I didn't really enjoy the accommodation considering that was what I had paid for. Cleanliness. Well I have been in worse and in fairness the Glendarroch wasn't filthy or anything, just a bit old and run down. A few cobwebs in the en suite and dusty inside drawers and wardrobe. Getting a bit over the top now ain't I. But all that I've written hear is the truth of my visit to Glendarroch, and I hope I don't offend Mae and her partner who own and run the place. But truth be told. I wont book to stay there again.
