About the hotel
Byerley House was purpose built as a small private hotel in 1998 and offers luxurious accommodation close to the centre of Newmarket. Situated in a quiet street with safe parking, it is only a two-minute walk from the High St, which offers a variety of shops, restaurants and bars. Although Byerley House has guests visiting from all walks of life the owners of the house are horseracing people.
The house is excellently run by former amateur jockey Bobbie who's husband Conrad is a bloodstock consultant and also a successful licenced racehorse trainer. For anyone visiting the town for their interest in horseracing Conrad and Bobbie's professional connection with the sport offers a unique insight into the sport for any racing enthusiast. If time permits, Conrad is also happy to take guests onto the gallops to show them the horses in training although this will have to be arranged. Guest’s at Byerley House enjoy the use of a resident’s lounge with wide screen TV and a private dining room. All bedrooms are equipped with TV’s and En Suite bathrooms. Free Internet access is also available. Room rates include full English breakfast with vegetarian and gluten free options on request. Newmarket is a renowned centre of excellence for horseracing and has been considered the ‘Headquarters’ since the first recorded race in 1622. Byerley House is a short walk to the world famous gallops, the Jockey Club Rooms and the Horseracing Museum. It is just 200yds from Tattersalls – Europe’s leading thoroughbred horse auction since 1766. Tattersalls also provides an excellent venue for weddings and other corporate functions. Newmarket racecourses have excellent conferencing facilities and also host a number of corporate functions and trade fairs. The National Stud is a short distance away and provide tours. The Stud is situated close to the famous ancient rampart Devil's Dyke. The course of the dyke is now controlled by English Heritage as a Scheduled Ancient Monument, as well as Site of Special Scientific Interest. A well-kept footpath runs the full length of the dyke. Whatever the reason to visit Newmarket, a stay at Byerley House will only serve to enhance this experience.
