About the hotel

The Oakhill Inn has five elegant rooms offering 4star bed and breakfast. All the rooms have en-suite bathrooms, power showers, TV/DVD, tea and coffee facilities and the most comfortable beds made with the best Egyptian cotton bed linen. There is a family suite available and rooms one and five both have baths as well as showers.

Our freshly prepared menus are full of local and seasonal produce and this is reflected in the excellent breakfast, home made old spot sausages and bacon and local free range eggs, apple juice from The Orchard Pig and fresh coffee all feature along side home made jam and marmalade and freshly baked pastries. Oakhill is a pretty Somerset village, close to the world heritage city of Bath and also near to the city of Wells. The area has a lot to offer tourists with some fantastic walking, climbing and caving activities. There is an excellent golf course half a mile from the Inn and the area is littered with cider farms and artisan food producers . Longleat safari park, Chedddar Gorge and Wookey Hole are popular attractions near by and for those who want some retail therapy the Mulberry factory shop and Kilver court designer outlet is just two miles up the road. Not forgetting Clarke's village, the shopper's paradise, in the nearby town of Street. Glastonbury is also very close and the Abbey and Tor are both worth a trip. We are also only a short drive to the Royal Bath and West showground, a great retreat for show judges.

Dont go ! Not worh the money

We would have left early if I had not paid in advance.

It is the small things that matter. Go the Malmsbury inn Malmsbury next to the church for the same price if your in the same area on business. This is their wording on their website

We have five elegant en-suite bed and breakfast rooms.

( definitely not Elegant )

Awarded 4 stars from the AA,

(How it got an AA 4 star is beyond belief.- but that just reflect the quality of the AA now days )

recommended by Alaistair Sawday’s - special places

( Who . never heard of him - looked up in Google and he writes for the Guardian - that explains it )

and consistently well reviewed on trip advisor,

( 3 bad write ups recently must be going down hill )

our rooms are comfortable ( cold and basic )

and thoughtfully decorated.( you mean Tatty )

The Oakhill Inn offers five elegant rooms offering high ( Low) class bed and breakfast.

All the rooms have en-suite ( Tatty) bathrooms,

TV/DVD, tea and coffee facilities

( with no milk which you have to ask for every day when you come in and go up to the room- they give it to you in a thermos flask - which is a good idea, much better than plastic milk in mini cartons but why not just put it there when you make the room up every day?)

and the most comfortable beds

( Un comfortable narrow 2 ft singles)

made with the best Egyptian cotton bed linen. There is a family suite available and rooms one and five both have baths as well as showers. Our freshly prepared menus are full of local and seasonal produce and this is reflected in the excellent breakfast,

home made old spot sausages (commercial bland disappointing) and bacon and local free range eggs, (Tescos?)

apple juice from The Orchard Pig and fresh coffee

( served from 1 pot between 5 tables and every time you want a top up you have to get up from the table and serve yourself )

all feature along side home made jam and marmalade and freshly baked pastries. (Hmmmm never saw those)

Over priced £20 for an 8 ounce steak and awful chips

Old is not an excuse for Tatty. The fabric of the building has been allowed to deteriorate beyond disappointing and where repaired it has been bodged. Over looking a main road the old sash windows do not close properly and have no secondary glazing so ear plugs are a necessity to sleep. The room is cold, the lock on the bedroom door is the original 2 lever lock which was difficult to open. Shower room dark with make up mirror light not working. When we complained to the staff they agreed it was not working smiled and left it at that and never fixed it or offered a solution or to move us to another room. Vanity Shelf paint chipped and paint peeing off had got damp and the chipboard had exploded out looking disgusting. Fire safety very dangerous needs reviewing with Laundry left on the fire escapes over night. Do not go as you will be disappointed and over charged.
