About the hotel
Southbank Guest house is family run and housed in a Georgian Town House, which is over 200 years old, and is located in the heart of Elgin yet in a quiet location. The town centre is a short stroll away and there you will find restaurants and bars. We have 15 en suite bedrooms, all with showers although two rooms have the shower over a bath.
The rooms are split between the main house and the annexe in a converted church. The area is a popular base for many activities and sightseeing excursions including a whisky trail, fishing and no less than 15 golf courses within only a few miles. Golden sandy beaches and the chance of seeing bottle nose dolphins are only 6 miles away.

Oasis in a sleepy location.
The Southbank Guest House, located in the very narrow and confusing, one way back streets of Elgin was a little oasis.
Hard to find without a satnav, but very worth it when you find it. I had booked a single room at the website price. I received a phone call a couple of days prior to leaving, apologizing that they had had a water leak, and my single room would not be ensuite. I was offered a discount for the inconvenience. Which I accepted. The welcome was very friendly. The single room was not huge, but I was only sleeping in it. The separate shower/toilet was across a landing. Not far, but a bit of a dash in the small hours going to the toilet. The room was clean and had all the usual kettle etc. The Dining Room was roomy and not overcrowded with tables. The staff and the breakfast were very good.
The accomodation was fine, and room quite nice and clean.
A hairdryer in room would have been nice,as I forgot mine. Perhaps slightly overpriced at £70 for a thursday night in November.
