Situated just off the A99 in the centre of Wick, the Hotel is both easily accessible and convenient. The nearest city is Inverness, which is a 2 hour 15 minute drive through some of the most spectacular scenery in all of Scotland. Wick train station is just a brief walk from the Hotel and offers regular services to Inverness and Fort William. There are also several bus operators which run daily services to the Highlands from Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh. For those travelling by air, Inverness Airport offers flights to a range of national and European destinations, whilst the local Wick Airport is just a 10 minute drive away and receives flights from Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Kirkwall. The Norseman Hotel is located in the scenic town of Wick in the northernmost Highlands of Scotland. Originally a Viking settlement, the town’s remarkable story can be explored at the wonderful Wick Heritage Centre which contains a fascinating array of historic artefacts and collections. Wick is also home to the famous Old Pulteney Distillery where visitors can look forward sampling a dram of their distinctive ‘Genuine Maritime Malt’. A short distance from the town, the dramatic 15th to 17th-century ruins of Castle Sinclair Girnigoe can be seen rising high above the cliff-tops. Further historic wonders can be uncovered at the Castle and Gardens of Mey. The jutting towers and corbelled turrets of this magnificent 16th Century building are just as spectacular today as they were all those years ago. Not a half hour drive from the Hotel is John O’Groats, famous for being at one end of the longest distance between two inhabited points on the British mainland. This authentic coastal village is set in a fantastic, unspoilt location from which the adventurous can explore the wonderful landscape. There are plenty of opportunities for day trips to the marvellous Orkney Isles as well as wildlife cruises across the Pentland Firth. There is also the fantastic Dunnet Head nature reserve located on the most northerly point in mainland Britain. Its stunning sea cliffs and coastal grassland are home to a range of birds including puffins, razorbills, guillemots, cormorants and much more besides.
