A little disappointed overall.
Through no fault of the hotel provider, there was a festival on for which I had no prior knowledge of, the noise was terrible, appeared a very hostile environment with the local people, Having been on the road all day from 5:30 AM travelling long distances I selected this on the impression this was a quiet hotel in a rural town according to their website; I was very much mistaken. Having advised the hotel by a telephone call I would be arriving late than the planned time, the gentleman advised it will be busy as there is a festival in the town and parking will be difficult, furthermore they will stop serving meals around 7 PM thoughts were ok well let's see. On arrival I saw just how busy it was when I finally found a car parking space, over a quarter of a mile away. The bar was just crazy, the people were just behaving like children in a youth club disco, some of them just behaving like wild animals. The landlord and staff just seemed to have no control over them all, despite a visible police presence in and around the Main Street throughout the evening. The gentleman whom I presumed was the landlord showed me to my room, seemed a pleasant enough chap and he advised me a pipe band was due to play outside around 10 PM and directed me in the direction of the take aways for food. On returning to the hotel I spent a while in the public bar and again it was just chaos; the people in there just could not behave no excuse for it, the staff should have handled it better. Upon retiring to the room it was comfortable enough but I found the toilet filthy, the rest was ok, finally managed to get to sleep when the noise died down just after midnight. Breakfast was average, greasy not the best sausages, bacon which was slightly undercooked as if it had been zapped in the microwave, edible but just average. Overall disappointed but for £35 get what pay for.
