Fawlty Towers exists.

Firstly the staff were so helpful it was untrue.

They must be used to the amount of complaints they get and are very good at trying to sort out the latest issues. Our first room was dirty, with an unvacuumed carpet and a bed that was suffering from an abundance of various fluffy bits, one of which was a hair. The duty manager attended the room and quickly had us moved to a better environment. Two free drinks were offered and we though that this was the end of the issues that affect hotel stays. WRONG

We went to the bar for a pre dinner drink and had to ask for the temperature to be raised as it was quite chilly in that room. A member of the management team agreed that the temperature had dropped and he adjusted the heating accordingly. Surely this was the last little issue. WRONG

We booked a table for dinner at 7pm then we went back to our room to scrub up and get ready for a nice evening. Upon our return to our room we noticed that the adjacent room had put out their room served plates and cutlery from their meal onto the floor next to their door. We left our room at 6:30pm for dinner. The plates were still on the floor. Dinner. My wife ordered her starter which arrived minus the walnut and apple salad. This was after about 25 minutes of waiting. The waiter was called over and the issue was raised with him. 10 minutes later the salad arrived. Walnuts missing but pistachio nuts instead. Never mind eh. Too hungry to bother sending that back. Anyway, the mains will be here soon and that'll be ok. WRONG

My main lacked bubble and squeak, but did have mash potatoes and cabbage. Sadly though there was no sign of my carrots. Needless to say, we didn't bother with a sweet or coffee as we had only booked for the 1 night and didn't want to be eating our sweet when the breakfast team turned up for work. We had another drink in the bar and a discussion about our comedic experience with a very helpful and polite operations manager, who kindly refunded the price of the wine. Surely the experience couldn't get worse. Wait for it, wait for it. WRONG

Upon our return to our room we yet again noticed the plates and cutlery outside of the next room. Bedtime. Slept well in a hair free and comfy bed. Showered in lovely hot water in a good shower. This was certainly going to be a better day. Ha. WRONG. Upon leaving our room we side stepped the now offensive looking plates and cutlery which had sat for 14 hours waiting for some kind of specialist cleaning company to remove them. We went for breakfast and we're yet again greeted by friendly and helpful staff. Shame the the breakfast had to be without bacon as it had run out at this point. I believe that bacon did arrive but it was after my breakfast had been eaten. Back to the room avoiding those pesky plates of doom. Checked out and was charged £250 for the experience. I must again stress that the food wasn't at all horrid and what we did have was very nice. Mostly missing and inaccurate but nevertheless tasty. Again the staff were so nice and helpful and this comment should in no way shed a bad light on them with regard to our experience at the hotel.
