What a disappointment
I've stayed at the Sheene Mill before and had a perfectly agreeable experience.
Not this time. I arrived at 9:15 and asked if it was possible to get some food, anything, hot or cold. I was told that, unfortunately, the restaurant closed at 9 and the only place to get something was the corner shop, which stays open until 10. So, I didn't starve. I had my biggest shock when I went to bed. The top end of the bed frame had collapsed and was unusable. I dragged the mattress onto the floor. I shared my experience with the receptionist in the morning. She said she'd let the management team know. I thought that might mean an apology but it didn't. Breakfast was a chore. After waiting some time, I had to ask in the kitchen for some service. The coffee was tasteless. I won't bother staying again. The hotel really needs to be taken over by someone who gives a damn.
Perfect romantic get away
Fantastic hotel, very clean, staff were very attentive to detail to make sure the stay was perfect, cocktails made in the bar were delicious and the meal in the restaurant was the best we have ever had, the room was small but had lots of tea and coffee and 2 bottles of water which was nice.
I cannot recommend this hotel enough for the food and staff alone. Would go back again without a doubt.
