About the hotel
We are situated down a private country lane 10 minutes North East of the Historic City of York, the ideal place to base yourself for touring the North York Moors National Park, Yorkshire’s wonderful coastline and of course York with it’s many treasures. Claxton Hall Cottage Bed and Breakfast, originally part of the Walker family estate has beamed ceilings, log fires, four poster beds and period furniture, your comfort is our main priority. All the rooms are en-suite, our family live in the adjoining cottage, near enough to care for your needs, but giving guests the freedom to relax and enjoy their holiday.
The beauty of this is that you can book a single room or the entire cottage and still know that we will be on hand to prepare your breakfast and care for you. Your stay with us is made as relaxing as possible starting with home baked cake and tea on arrival, if the full English breakfast does not appeal you can even request a Continental breakfast in your room. If you wish to be out of the hustle and bustle of the City, have no parking problems and relax in a quiet location, Claxton Hall Cottage is the place for you. Once checked in you have 24 hour access to the property and can come and go as you please.

Great weekend, will recommend & return
Claxton hall cottage was our perfect weekend getaway, it's picturesque, well decorated & set in a lovely country style location (also ideal for attending a wedding at Sandburn Hall).
Carol was the perfect hostess, we were given all necessary info and left to settle in knowing that someone was always available. Our bed was comfy, the room clean and the bathroom modern, we also enjoyed a lovely full English breakfast on both days. By the end of the stay we felt like one of the family, we will definitely return if we're ever in the area.
We were very pleased by the spacious and homey interior of the place, and the cleanliness and simple decor.
We felt like we were a million miles from the city (though it was an easy ten minute drive away). My only complaint (and it's not really a complaint, would just have been useful to know beforehand) is that there aren't any street lights or anything near the property, so if you arrive after sun down be prepared to possibly park in the dark and feel your way around to the cottage.
We were greeted promptly by the very friendly lady who lives next door and runs the place, and she showed us through the communal living room (books to read, free wifi and games for the kids) and up to our room. We'd booked the four poster bed so the room was large with this amazing bed centre stage. It was hands down the comfiest bed I've ever slept in in my life. The bathroom was large and well kept and there was plenty of space to put things. All in all a lovely room and a lovely stay. Very clean and warm. In the morning the lady couldn't do enough for us and cooked us an amazing full English breakfast before we left. I wished we could have stayed longer!
