Clean and quiet

After some difficulty reaching the owners (no response to email sent to confirm arrival time, no answer to first three telephone calls, no answer machine on landline, two doorbells not working on arrival), the accommodation was as other reviewers had stated - very clean and very quiet (garden was pretty but needed a tidy up).

Additional heater available but not needed - the converted stable block is well heated. It took a while for the water to warm up in the shower, but when it did so the water was scalding hot (watch out!). Eco-friendly toiletries look basic, but cleverly use minimal packaging. Furniture and linens are substantial and good quality - towels were clean if a little small. Hospitality tray was very well stocked - rare to find one with decaffeinated black tea. Hairdryer also provided. TV was small for being so far across the room and there were only about 30 channels - but they were the best ones. Remote control was the only grubby thing in the room. Frosted window in door to en suite bedroom wasn't very private so we fixed paper tissue to the inside. A mistake over accidentally booking room only (no wonder it was the best price in the area) was rectified by the owners offering to provide breakfast for an extra £6 each, which would have been served in the rooms on the dining table and chairs provided therein, if we hadn't preferred to eat together in the main building (the old pub being slowly converted into their home). Describing the booking as being a 'special offer' providing free WiFi and parking was a cheeky stretch by Laterooms. com/the owners as all bookings would have included these services. A true special offer would have included breakfast for the price of room only. Vendors were cheerful in the morning and wished me a happy birthday, then provided a generous breakfast, which wasn't bad for the money. Vendors were also repeatedly apologetic about the problematic arrival. Check-out was easy: 11am or later if we preferred, leave the keys inside the room locks, and leave the car parked on the property if we wanted to walk into the village of Upwey.

Ideal for a stopover from the Ferry

We were travelling from Jersey by Ferry before driving to Worcestershire and did not want to drive at night.

The hotel was ideally situated on the way out of Weymouth. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated and breakfast was superb.
