A charming Victorian property bang in the centre on Princes Street.
We had a front aspect room facing Princes Street and the gardens. Terrific views. The room was clean and tastefully decorated. Modern tiled bathroo, spic and span. Nice large bed and traditional decor (as it should be in a Victorian property)
The reception staff were welcoming, the Scottish breakfast was self serve and fine. Some reviewers moaning about older properties on here, go to Travelodge then.
Very nice double room with great en-suite bathroom.
Very accommodating staff. The hotel is in a perfect location to do touristy stuff, central Edinburgh, a few hundred yards from the train station, very close to galleries and museums and all the shopping areas.
Room With A View
As we were only staying for 1 night, I was expecting a room to the rear of the hotel, especially as we had a discounted and very affordable rate through LateRooms.com.
To our surprise and delight we had a room with a corner feature window looking out along Princes St and up to the Castle. The room was much larger than I expected, and although it is not a modern building, was decorated to a high standard. The secondary glazing did its job and there was very little traffic noise considering our location. The hotel is also really handy for Waverley Station. Breakfast was fine and again we managed to secure the window seat. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would seriously consider booking another stay in the future.
Old Waverley Hotel
On arrival we got upgraded to the best room they had.
The view was amazing . Would definitely return.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, my wife has a guide dog and they were very accommodating.
There was a problem with the lights in the room (one blew when I switched them on and it tripped the electrics) but they came and sorted it out immediately and efficiently. The room was nice, the bed huge and comfortable and the bathroom very clean.
Friendly Hotel with excellent location in the centre of the city with walks to the old town and castle.
Staff accommodating and food excellent.
Room was not insulated
Could hear the next door rooms through the walls, could also hear people in the street which lead to a poor nights sleep.
I told the manager but did not seem to care.
Reception staff excellent friendly but not over the top .
We didn't eat in the hotel but the food looked very good . We were there for xmas shopping and found the Waverley an excellent location .
was very good location.
Room on top floor was very small and a tiny window but good value for money overall.
