Beautiful, full of character
If you like old, character properties, you will love Cleeve House.
Run by very lovely, welcoming people.
This is a stunning house in beautiful grounds and the hosts a lovely couple who cook a fabulous breakfast.
Sadly though the room (no5 twin ensuite) was not up to modern standards. It is very basic and the bathroom very poor with grotty tiled floor a sort of wet room, but the shower is awful. To be fair when I complained about the shower I got some money back and he thanked me for telling him saying he would sort it out. There is no hair dryer in the room, but again one was provided when I asked. It was a very cold week end and the room was warm but not as warm as I would like. There is no heating in the hallways between rooms and breakfast room, not the end of the world but a bit unwelcoming. I hope things improve there as I really liked the people.
Wonderful wedding anniversary break
Very impressed with the delightful character house, the beautiful surroundings and the wonderful welcome.
Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts - who even went out shopping early one morning to buy croissants for my breakfast.
Me and a friend were in Wiltshire on a photography weekend away and needed a base.
After a bit of searching we found Cleeve House. Other reviews were positive and the grand appearance of the place was a deal maker so we booked. Stunning building in lovely grounds. Very friendly (but not intrusive) owners welcomed us. Its a fabulously gothic place with other architectural styles thrown in and with some history. Bedroom was large with lovely springy beds and great views over the garden. Breakfast was excellent - we had a proper Wiltshire fry-up and it set us up for the day. I'd definitely stay again.
Even laid rose petals in room
Quirky but lovely
This is a difficult visit to summarise in a few words.
We thoroughly enjoyed our brief visit to this quirky B&B. It was a photogenic mini stately home on the outside with lovely aspects from the windows on the inside. It needs the numbers at a wedding or similar to fill the inside and bring the 'medieval' entrance hall, library etc to life. However we enjoyed the tranquillity of our mid week stay. We liked exploring the huge building and grounds, and everything personal to our stay was remarkably clean and orderly for such a huge concern. We loved the warmth of the hospitality and the personal touch of our home cooked breakfast. We will look forward to returning!
Fantastic Place To Stay
A wonderful place to stay.
We had a great room with a lovely view of the gardens. The owners were lovely and were very welcoming. Breakfast was great too. Definitely a must.
