Personal interest from hostess, and friendly service.
A good centre for exploring the area.
Room not bad. Room smelt
Room adéquate but by no means luxurious.
Disappointing for the price. Not above average. Had to ask for towels for use with the bath. plus room smelt a bit musty.
Like being back at school!
Although the hotel was OK, there was a 'rule book' on gthe desk outling gthe 'fines' you would have to pay if you didn't vacate the room or if you were late in.
I felt that the owners were false in their sincerity and that the food was badly overpriced. For this sort of money, you would expect a kettle in the room and not have to go out to the hallway to a coffee machine.
A good stay where we have been before
The hotel no longer includes a continental breakfast in the price,, and we were not told this before we went, so it worked out quite expensive.
One still has to bring a kettle, etc for drinks in the room, though there is a pay self - service machine in the hall.
excellent food, friendly staff, lovely old building
The Old School House Hotel is well located just outside Swindon and near to the M4 junction 16 so well placed for getting to places in the area.
It is very welcoming and the food excellent. We only had breakfast. Staff were attentive and helpful.
Lovely, friendly place!
We enjoyed a lovely stay with our 2 year old daughter for 3 nights in order to be near friends we were visiting in Swindon.
Karen, Tonny and Freddy were very friendly and welcoming every time we saw them - our daughter particularly enjoyed Freddy's company!.
Breakfast was filling each morning and always served with a friendly smile. The dining room is a lovely space and the whole building is full of character and charm. Our room was very clean and comfortable - we all slept soundly as it was so quiet and peaceful. We would definitely stay here again.
Really friendly host and a nice welcome but I felt the room was way over-priced for what it was.
From the outside look of the buidling I was expecting something a bit special but the room I had was musty and not particularly well furnished. Everything was a bit 'tired' and the rooms seem to have been furnished with second-hand stuff. I'm a bit confused by the 4* rating - I'm not sure what the owner was intending to demonstrate as setting such high expectations around either facilities or quality is just going to lead to dissappointment. On a positive note, the hotel (which I think is really a guest house!) is in a nice location.
Nice Hotel would stay again
