About the hotel
The Bell House is one of the most attractive small hotels in the West Country. The original house is over 500 years old and stands in delightful English gardens. The Bell House makes an excellent base for exploring the Cotswolds.
The Bell House offers a non-smoking restaurant, as well as large gardens for al fresco dining. Wi-Fi is available in both the bar and restaurant areas. When England was under the influence of Oliver Cromwell all church services were banned and all church bells confiscated. The villagers of Sutton Benger hid the bell from the beautiful Saxon Church in the private house directly opposite. Hence, this is how the Bell House gained its name. The cities of Bath, Swindon and Bristol are all within a 20 minute drive and we are ideally situated for both the Castle Combe Race Track and Badminton Horse Trails. The surrounding area has a wealth of ancient sites, numerous white horses and the standing stones of Avebury. The famous beautiful villages of Castle Combe (Dr Dolittle) and Lacock (Harry Potter) are both within a ten minute drive.

We had a great stay at the bell house hotel, stayed for 2 nights as we were going to a wedding reception at the wellersley arms just up the road.
On arrival we were informed that the heating / hot water was not working, however Chris the owner did his best and got heating on but no hot water until the following day. breakfast was very good with cereals, toast, full English. This is a very old property so don't expect it to look like a travelodge its old and quirky and Chris the owner is the perfect host.
Lovely bar and lounge area, in the midst of renovation this will be a fantastic spot, unfortunately I was in one of the last rooms due an upgrade however this was reflected in the price.
That said it was clean and tidy. Staff very friendly and obliging, had a good chat with one of the owners, really nice guy and passionate about the business - great to see!
