About the hotel

The traditionally thatched building dates back to the 18th Century. There is also a sunny garden terrace where meals can be taken ‘al-fresco’. Convenient for business, visiting local sites (Stonehenge, Salisbury plain and the Savernake forest are minutes away) or just getting away for the weekend.

We offer an environment where you can eat top quality food, drink in relaxed surroundings or stay in one of our comfortable rooms. Marlborough is situated in the UK between the towns of Hungerford and Calne on the old coaching route midway between London and Bristol. The Marlborough area is steeped in history from Neolithic times onwards and makes a perfect base from which to explore the beautiful English county of Wiltshire. A full range of shops can be found in the town, Marlborough is a market town and market days are officially on Wednesday and Saturday although market stalls are set up in the middle of the High Street on most days.

Terrible Place to Stay!!!

I booked the room on the afternoon of the stay through LateRooms, but when i arrived that evening, the landlady of the establishment told me that she had no booking.

I advised her that i had only booked that afternoon, but she was quick to dismiss this. I found her very rude and arrogant, not the type of welcome you would expect considering that i am the paying customer. She then told me that the only room available was 'The Family Room' which was £20 a night more expensive than the 'Double Ensuite' that i had booked. i was tired after a long day and a long drive so decided to sort that out at a later date. The evening meal was a 'BBQ Brisket' which was dry and had very little sauce, therefore the second night i decided to dine elsewhere. The 'Full English Breakfast' on the first morning was very greasy and unappetising. Upon checking out after 2 nights stay, the landlady instructed me that she was only going to charge me for the room i had booked, as though she was doing me a favour!!!. The bar staff were very abrupt and cold also. The pub is trying to make itself out to be some kind of 'Gastro Pub' by selling overpriced food and a lick of 'Farrow & Ball' paint on the walls, but fails to impress with either the quality of food, but ultimately the unfriendly and impolite service.
