About the hotel
The Fox Inn was built over 250 years ago as the home of Charles Hall, then known as Broadclose. In the last 90 years the pub has become one of Dorset's most famous hostelries. Now under the control of Keith and Sharon, with Sharon's daughter Clare as manager, Clare's partner Darren as Head Chef.
The Fox Inn is a true family enterprise. Warm, welcoming and always a reflection of the rich, rural life found in the heart of Dorset, The Fox is popular with residents, visitors and locals alike. The main restaruant provides a traditional and relaxing atmosphere in which to dine. Head Chef Darren and his team offer interesting and varied menus using the finest of fresh local produce. For a more informal experience try the light, airey garden restaurant ~ ideal for lunch. in the summer there is a large patio area which is a real sun trap. There are 11 ensuite letting rooms, including 4 superior rooms designed to be both stylish and comfortable. (Due to the fact the rooms are on upper floors with no lift, these rooms are not suitable for people with very limited mobility. ) Please be aware our standard double rooms have dormer windows and therefore, sloping ceilings. In addition to the wealth of nearby attractions: Monkey World, Abbottsbury Swannery, Athelhampton Gardens, Sherbourne Castle, The Tutankhamun Exhibition to name but a few, we are ideally situated to take in some of the most breath taking walks. We recommend the spectacular views from the Wessex Ridgeway, returning through the famous Dorset Gap. Day trips to Jersey and Guernsey are also available from nearby Weymouth. We are a very dog friendly establishment, To enhance the stay of all our guests who bring their dogs, we now have a dedicated 'dog wetroom', with dog shower, shampoos, towels, grooming table, dog drier, dirty welly / wet clothing area for muddy owners too. **Please note - there is little or, for some, no mobile phone signal.

An Inn with lots of character
A lovely little Inn tucked away in the beautiful rural Dorset.
Full of character and a haven of peace and quiet. Excellent food in the restaurant and a really good freshly cooked breakfast. Friendly owners and about twenty minutes drive to Dorchester. A lovely place for one or two nights stay.
