About the hotel
The Fox Inn was built over 250 years ago as the home of Charles Hall, then known as Broadclose. In the last 90 years the pub has become one of Dorset's most famous hostelries. Now under the control of Keith and Sharon, with Sharon's daughter Clare as manager, Clare's partner Darren as Head Chef and baby Emily 'helping', The Fox Inn is a true family enterprise.
Warm, welcoming and always a reflection of the rich, rural life found in the heart of Dorset, The Fox is popular with residents, visitors and locals alike. The main restaruant provides a traditional and relaxing atmosphere in which to dine. Head Chef Darren and his team offer interesting and varied menus using the finest of fresh local produce. For a more informal experience try the light, airey garden restaurant ~ ideal for lunch. in the summer there is a large patio area which is a real sun trap. There are 11 ensuite letting rooms, including 4 superior rooms designed to be both stylish and comfortable. (Due to the fact the rooms are on upper floors with no lift, these rooms are not suitable for people with very limited mobility. ) In addition to the wealth of nearby attractions: Monkey World, Abbottsbury Swannery, Athelhampton Gardens, Sherbourne Castle, The Tutankhamun Exhibition to name but a few, we are ideally situated to take in some of the most breath taking walks. We recommend the spectacular views from the Wessex Ridgeway, returning through the famous Dorset Gap. Day trips to Jersey and Guernsey are also available from nearby Weymouth. **Please note - there is little or, for some, no mobile phone reception here at the Fox due to the rural location.

Lovely quiet location
Pub tucked out of the way in a small Dorset village.
We received a great welcome on arrival, our hosts could not have been more accommodating. We were given a room upgrade on arrival as we were the only couple staying on the first night. Evening meal was delicious. Food at breakfast was plentiful and the range was first class - just a shame that the breakfast service was very slow.
Excellent place to stay
The Hotel was a little remote but was a great place to stay.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean and fresh and the restaurant food was perfect. We shall be returning.
