Last minute booking attending funeral
We decided at the last minute to make a booking, leaving late and arriving even later to make sure we were not delayed when attending a funeral nearby the next day.
I phoned after making the booking to check the family room we would be allocated had an ensuite and we also confirmed we would be arriving quiet late. Lorraine, who we spoke to, assured us that we would have double and singe bed (for grandson), with ensuite and arriving late was fine. We had a speedy and warm welcome on arrival, enabling us to get the grandson back to sleep after the journey quickly. We ordered our breakfast for 9.00am the next day. We had a lovely breakfast and a leisurely start but were only 5 minutes from the church, which was perfect. My grandson ate 4 breakfast, having 2 bowls of cereal, toast and jam as well as egg, sausage and beans - perfect. The rooms are furnished and decorated from a different era, but are fresh, clean and very comfortable.
lovely room but....
the room we were in was very spacious(which included a settee) and was very nice and looked as if it had just been done up.we found a bit strange only bath towels in the bathroom but no hand towels.
the shower was very roomy and you could move around easily. the location of the breakfast room was very good as there was very nice views across the countryside(the best breakfast views we have ever had). the one down side was the interaction of the owner. the only conversation from him was just business-when we booked in to take my card payment, pointing out where our room was(not taking us to it) and checking out what we wanted for breakfast.
Good value for money.
Will definitely stay here again.
No dust anywhere. I even checked!. Bed was lovely - we had the squeaky bed in our room but it didn't squeak during the night. Beautiful room, view was stunning and breakfast was excellent.
Great dog friendly stay.
Real value for money.
Charming, characterful house. Comfy bed. Our dog was very welcome at no extra charge. We were grateful to staff who went out of their way to give us a delicious cooked breakfast even though we were leaving before 8.00 on a Sunday morning.
Mediocre at best
The building itself and the views are fantastic.
The customer service was non existent, the room was tired and the bed uncomfortable and the breakfast was definitely average.
Nice Guest house and location
Only downside a very squeaky bed that disturbed our sleep.
nice friendly host and good size room with a proper shower not one of those dribbly things.
Will definately use again if needed
Lovely rural setting yet very close to Manchester. Handier stiill for the best of Peak District.
Lovely old house, magnificent stairway to spacious bedroom accommodation with excellent views to the hills.
Quiet but friendly, nice dog and good breakfast. Definitely good value.
Very average, plumbing out dated, noisy etc
Response from hotel
This Guest must have been unaware that the room he had, has amazing views looking over to Derbyshire. You can see for miles and miles. Rolling hills and a church on top of a hill, trees and wildlife all around. The guest booked a single standard room, but actually got a double room. Room 6 which was decorated last year and has a new carpet, tv, tea & coffee facilities, hand basin in the room with a bathroom on the landing. He didn't have breakfast so I don't know why he decided to score the food and service, as it was not included in the Booking. He was staying on a shoe string budget. Goodbye to you Sir.
