B&B Review
Welcomed by receptionist (good) and quick and effective access to room. Room had several defects e.g. shaver socket/light inoperative and a few decoration bits & pieces that would take little to resolve yet make a big difference. Breakfast was good but slightly surly waiter spoiled the atmosphere. Bench seats made for a busy time, getting in and out of seats to collect courses etc

Clean room. Uncomfortable bed.
The staff member on reception was excellent. Room was clean and looked like it had recently been refurbished. The bed had no support whatsoever and was very uncomfortable.

First stay at this Hotel.
Pleasantly surprised by the whole experience! The room was comfortable, had all Freeview TV channels and free WiFi in bedrooms which actually worked, unlike other 'chain' hotels! Appreciated having an iron and ironing board as standard in rooms too. Staff were VERY helpful, friendly & went the extra mile to make us feel valued. Only criticism being with food in the bar. the hot food tended to be a bit greasy, & breakfast plate should have been cleaned of black mushroom oily juice, which ran into the eggs, prior to service. Fresh fruit was missing on first morning and a lack of bread. No yoghurts on 2nd day, but arrived when asked for.

What I would expect
This was a one night stop over before going to Celtic Manor. In that respect the New Inn is ideally located ( about 2.5 miles away). The room was basic but clean, and the beds a little less comfortable than I would have liked. The only real issue I had is that the walls are pretty thin and you could hear everything from the adjoining rooms. Service in restaurant for breakfast was pretty slow, but the food was tasty. Overall, considering the cost it was reasonable value for money. Must say the staff I spoke to at the New Inn were very friendly and helpful...the hotels best asset.

Good budget hotel
Helpful staff, clean room, plenty of free parking and a restaurant on site. What else can one ask of a budget hotel?
We would certainly use it again.

Down for the Racing
We stayed at this hotel to go to Chepstow Races. The staff were friendly. The room was clean and we had no noise from the main road. The food in the restaurant was tasty and excellent value for money. This hotel was ideal for our purpose of a short break.
