3Visit England Assessed Hotel Ratings explained
Fistral Beach , Newquay, TR7 1PS
Welcome to Newquay, unarguably, the coolest of all the Cornish towns. Voted the best family holiday destination by readers of 'COAST' magazine, the seaside town is famed for its laid-back beach vibe and The Esplanade Hotel is no exception.

A picturesque and contemporary hotel overlooking the world-famous Fistral Beach in Newquay, The Esplanade is a special place where the whole family can kick back and relax together - a stylish home from home! The hotel offers stunning views from inside and out - especially from the lounge where the dramatic seascapes spill in.

Genuinely welcoming, the Esplanade Hotel in Newquay is more than just a place to sleep - it's a place where you can enjoy quality family holidays on the North Cornwall coast, splashing about in the heated indoor pool and dining together in the informal family-friendly Ocean View Restaurant. We want you to come and make our hotel your home and relax. We are all about fresh sea air, timeless activities and wholesome family holidays in Cornwall. The beach is our playground and rock pooling, flying kites and surfing are our favourite things! During the holidays we run a fun schedule of family-friendly activities - all free to join. We love getting messy and generally having lots of fun...this is the kind of place where childhood memories are made.

Home to the Quiksilver Surf School, all guests receive discounted surf lessons and equipment hire - everyone from beginner to pro can be catered for. There's also an indoor, child friendly swimming pool, hotel bar, plus indoor and outdoor play areas for the children. The Esplanade Hotel really does have something for all the family!

Fistral Beach Surf School is located on site. Newquay town centre is less than 10 minutes' walk away and Newquay Golf Club is 500 metres from the Esplanade Hotel. Newquay Rail Station is a 20-minute journey on foot.

The hotel does not accept payment made by American Express card."

Lovely clean spacious room with beautiful view
We had a lovely room with a beautiful view and lots of space, unfortunately there was a lot of noise from the guests above. Breakfasts were quite good with a good selection. Staff were very helpful and the room was always clean when we returned.

great price, great location
we did 4 nights bed only in the standard double room. the room was clean and comfy, a decent size and perfect for what we needed. the hotel is situated right in front of a beautiful beach, with amazing views and walking paths. its about an hour to major sites drive wise eg. Tintagel castle, the Eden project, St Micheals mount. Definitely take a sat nav, and be prepared to hunt out food places and more so parking for them food places. it is obviously aimed more towards surfers in the Newquay area and there aren't any little shops/cafes that close to the hotel (probably about a 20/30 min walk) or a 10 min drive. Over all it was a lovely holiday and a lovely hotel, would definitely book there again.
on the parking note, if your going out of season you shouldn't need to pre book parking spots as you can park for free just in front of the hotel, although you will be competing with surfers. you may need to pre book your parking spots if your going at a busier time in the year than we did

Esplanade Experience
Great position overlooking brilliant surfing beach.
Entrance and reception scruffy and not very clean.
Shower in room totally inadequate for the purpose of having a refreshing invigorating clean - the water virtually dripped out.
The worst experience was the total lack of sound proffing between rooms and the corridor. there is no way we would stay there again or recomment it to anyone.
Very disappointing

what a lovely hotel
We recently stayed at the esplanade and from the moment we checked in we were impressed
We had a wonderful sea view and our room was great. The hotel is a good walk from the town centre
However this is over fistral beach. The road walk would be much longer. Taxis are £5 to and from
The hotel which we thought was fine. A lot of the guests are on coach trips. And tend to stay in the hotel on the evening. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent as was the service
All the staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful, and provide on excellent service. We would stay there again.

Good 3* Hotel
Friendly hotel, very friendly staff. Enjoyed a few days break in Cornwall, used the hotel as a base to visit surrounding areas. Good start to the day with a fantastic breakfast, lots of choice for all tastes. Nice view overlooking Fistral beach, bit of a walk into town. Kids enjoyed the pool and play area. Overall a pleasant hotel. Only downside I can think of was the lack of internet connection.
