Helpful staff in old world charming hotel
Staff very accommodating , varied vegetarian menu if requested.
Prompt room service. Lovely setting.
Lovely decor, nice rooms, accommodating staff.
I was unsure as to if breakfast was included with the room and was unaware until I read in the booklet in the room that we had to ask to book a breakfast. Therefore we ended up eating else wear after checking out. Only down points was we could of done with more than 2 standard tea bags and the curtain clip to the rhs curtain was detached and on the floor prior to me or my partner touching them.
Sweeney Hall is a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting overlooking open countryside.
The room I stayed in was furnished to a high standard and had two large windows. The staff were friendly and very efficient. The breakfast was excellent with top quality local
Silly things like no remote control for TV, no bath mat, no socket next to dressing table, but otherwise good.
The hotel looks very grand both in its setting of park land and the building - Georgian.
Staff were all very helpful and courteous. Bar was well stocked and dinner was excellent. We had the 3 course table d'Hote which was really good value with plenty of fresh, good quality food served. Wine choice was also good as well as options for wine by the glass. Breakfast also had a good range on offer and again service was friendly and prompt.
We would definitely stay at Sweeney Hall Hotel again.
Lovely view from our room, peaceful.
Room was lovely too. Staff were friendly.
1 Night Stay
Excellent location, very friendly staff and great breakfast.
Would book again.
Beautiful building, great stay.
I booked this hotel at the last minute on Friday night and we were very pleased when they upgraded our room upon arrival.
Due to a large wedding disco in the evening we were given a large two bedroomed apartment at the back of the hotel so that we would not be disturbed by the noise which was very considerate and appreciated. ‘The Eastwing’ as they called it consisted of a large bedroom with a settee, writing desk and flat screen TV, there was also a smaller bedroom with yet another small TV, a large bathroom with a very deep bath and a walk-in shower and a separate toilet, all accessible via a hall.
The view from both bedrooms was rather picturesque as it overlooked the formal gardens and the adjoining countryside. We booked our dinner for 8.30pm and when we arrived at the bar just after 8pm it was heaving with all the guests attending the wedding disco, yet we were served quickly and even found a seat. The dinner was priced quite reasonable at £22.50 for a 3 course meal which included an entrecôte steak without a surcharge and which was cooked rare to perfection and to my liking.
The next morning, after a cooked breakfast, we checked out but noticed that the young man at reception was somewhat confused by the bill and he went off to find out how this bill had been made up. When he came back I paid the bill but found that they had charged me for the ‘Eastwing’ and then deducted the price I was quoted by Laterooms which left me with an overcharge of £18.00. When I questioned this he seemed perturbed and when the very pleasant guy who actual upgraded us explained to him that we should just be charged the rate quoted to us by Laterooms he rather grudgingly refunded me the £18.00 overcharge. I understand the he was the son of the owner and it was notably obvious that he was not happy about this and that he felt we should have paid more for the room or, maybe, not have questioned the bill. There was a marked change in his attitude which slightly dampened my enthusiasm and praise of ‘Sweeny Hall’ which otherwise was very pleasant and enjoyable.
Its like a mini Downton Abbey.
First class service.
