3Self Classified Hotel Ratings explained
Sweeney Hall Hotel, Morda, , OSWESTRY, SY10 9EU
Our stylish restaurant with its contemporary decor offers wonderful modern English cuisine to both residents and non residents – open for both lunch and dinner, we offer a fixed-price or and individually priced menu. If it’s just a quick bite then we offer an “Early Bird” menu between 6pm and 7pm Monday to Friday. We are also renowned locally and as far as Chester, Shrewsbury and beyond for our delicious Sunday lunches which, such is their popularity, have to be booked well in advance. Our chic bar is the perfect place to relax. In these contemporary, yet comfortable, surroundings why not enjoy a drink, a meal, a coffee – read a book, enjoy the views or chat with friends or colleagues – we like to think that our bar pays homage to convivial congeniality and we hope you do too Our magnificent function room can cater for wedding parties, birthday parties, anniversaries, in fact just about anything that you feel like having a party for! We are also licensed to hold civil ceremonies at the Sweeney. Proving to be very very popular are our Exclusive Use Weddings, where the whole Hotel is booked out to the wedding party for their own private use – please feel free to call and enquire about this option or any other information regarding any function at the Sweeney. Location: 2 miles from the historic market town of Oswestry, 17 miles from the medieval town of Shrewsbury and 25 miles from the famous Roman town of Chester – we are conveniently placed for all by road or rail. Manchester and Liverpool too are easily accessible by car. (Please note all distances are approximate) Shopping and Entertainment – Both Shrewsbury and Chester are excellent for shopping and a few miles outside Chester is Cheshire Oaks – one of the country’s biggest outlet villages. Chester has its own race course and is also home to one of the UK’s best zoos. The Sweeney is also 12 miles from Llangollen which plays host to the International Eistethfod each year.

Beautiful room - would stay again but!
I stayed here one night in their smallest double, room 8. Beautiful decor, bed and can swivel tv so you can see it from the bath or the bed! Only trouble was there was no hot water for a bath and breakfast didn't start until 8.30 on the weekend. I was staying here as my partner has been on hospital near by for a couple of months and a bath and cooked breakfast I had longed for! Really thought I'd get it here but I was unlucky I guess. Would still stay again though just because it's so peaceful, breautiful and in lovely grounds.

Summer 2014
An excellent find located in the valley of Oswestry tucked away in quite countryside offering peace and tranquility with excellent food dished up. The room given was spacious and relaxing a home from home.

Great stay at Sweeney Hall
Love Sweeney Hall, great value for a lovely stay in an old country house. If you love old buildings with lots of charm, and value the quirks that go with that, it's a fantastic place to stay.
Very much at home after one night and wish we could have stayed longer. Staff were great, loved the room and will definitely go back next time I am in the area. Thank you to Sweeney Hall for giving us such a great stay.

Staff lovely.

A warm welcome in this country hotel.
Such a beautiful hotel with fabulous food. The location is rural without being isolated. The gardens and grounds are well maintained.

So relaxing
We were warmly greeted even though the hotel was packed and they were in the middle of serving a party. Nothing was too much trouble and we soon felt as quite at home.

Poor cutomer service
From arrival to departure the customer service was poor. The barman sitting with his shoes off playing with a phone, the wait for breakfast to save a walk with 2 or 3 meals, the checkout experience - all shody. Add in no shower and I would avoid in the future.

Lovely location, comfy room
Lovely country house hotel, with gorgeous gardens and a very tranquil setting. Staff were a little distracted by the busy restaurant the night I arrived but swiftly stepped up when they realised I was waiting to check in/for a table in the restaurant. The room was very quiet and comfortable and food was fine. I'd definitely stay there again.
