Good food but security is a real issue
On the plus side, the food was excellent. I had two breakfasts and an evening meal and, apart from the coffee being very weak, the food was really good.
When I returned to my room on the first evening I found that my room door had been left unlocked and that the dirty cups hadn't been changed, coffee/milk/sugar not replaced and the bin not emptied. Another couple had found their door propped open by a chair. When I asked what was happening I did get an apology and the cups were replaced, but I had to ask for more coffee for the room. My advice if you choose to stay here is that you ensure nothing of any value is left in your room.

we have stayed here before while visitng family. The last time we visited we couldn't dine here due to ventilation problems. This time i'm happy to say we could and did dine here to a really good meal, even though the menu and specials board was rather restricted for choice. The staff were attentive and quite pleasant. The only drawback for us was that there is no lift to the accomodation and two sets of steep stairs to climb with your luggage. Our room was over the kitchen area with the ventilation fans blowing and pidgeons on our windowsil waking us up. We would need to know next time that we had a better room and on a lower floor due to poor health

Good value at short notice
Very good value for booking on the day. Friendly staff and good, cooked, breakfast. Only warning to future guests would be that it was pretty noisy outside until at least 1am.

School report might say... Could do better
With a family room placed directly over a busy bar the White Hart in Wiveliscombe sadly didn't live up to it's advertised 4-Star rating.
Room positioning seemed impractical at first but this was further compounded by a rowdy Saturday night crowd from around 1.30 in the morning - not least because the bar didn't quieten much before midnight.
The family room was very sparsely presented for a 4-star accommodation and lacked cleanliness levels expected of such graded facilities, too. Similarly the bathroom failed to deliver with mould present on the shower curtain and a distinct smell of smokers having used that room, rather than follow the hotel's rules. This became more apparent after showering as nicotine stained droplets hung around above the window.
Overall quite disappointing despite a good exterior appearance and 4 star rating.
