Darker Rood review
This hotel was very expensive for what it had to offer. Very basic accommodation certainly not worth £80.00 per night. Better quality rooms available in a travel lodge/premier inn. Pillows were as thin as tissue paper so had to ask for extras but even then not adequate. Reception staff not very helpful and slow. Bar comfortable with helpful friendly staff. Breakfast basic but adequate. We will not stay again or recommend to friends.

We stayed here last year, and from the picture on the internet thought what a lovely place this would be to stay, but was very disappointed that we stayed in the extension and not the old part of the house, The room was very basic and the bathroom did not have the soaps, shampoo's etc that most hotels have, only a cheap dispenser on the wall, no biscuits were left for the morning cup of tea either. This was more suited for a travelling rep. The menu for the restaurant was just pub grub,
which was disappointing as the dinning room was very grand, the breakfast was very nice and the staff friendly.
