DIRKER ROODS OVERNIGHT STAY
The hotel was very good value for money. The bedrooms and public rooms are just a little in need of some modernisation and sprucing up, but everything was perfectly acceptable at that price. Breakfast was excellent.
As a real ale drinker, I was particularly impressed by the fact that the bar had two hand pulled ales and that the price of the beer was lower than I pay in some normal pubs.

Get me out of here.
The hotel was dirty. Shabby. Unclean. The entrance was full stub ends. No sence of care at all.
The rooms and bedding were clean. The towels were rough/old. It was like an old peoples home, very sad indeed. The coridoors were dismal and needed cleaning and painting,
The breakfast and the lady who served me were excelent.

Every person we encountered working at Durker Roods was extremely helpful, welcoming and kind and this made our stay possible. The rooms we were initially allocated were at the top of the building and we could not access the WiFi when we were there, but we were quickly moved to rooms on a lower floor and WiFi was fine. These rooms were also more modern and of a generally better quality. The food was really delicious both for breakfast and in the restaurant and our dietary requirements were well catered for. I'm not sure I would pay the full price, but the deal through laterooms made this hotel very good value for money.
A problem for us was that the hotel looks very different to the impression given on its own website, which made it very difficult for our Asperger's Syndrome child to settle and might be an issue for anyone who does not like the unexpected.
