Gutted never again
Room so tiny.
Blind did not even fit in window hence light coming through. Bathroom light would not switch off. Reception informed of our issues and did not seem at all bothered. Breakfast was laughable. Gutted because I was planning on staying here at least once a month to visit my son in Windsor. Breakfast consisted of a choice of one cereal, 4 pastries on a plate, scrambled egg with brown bits in it, sausages well did not taste or look like sausages. And thank god I wasn't planning on a lie in on the Sunday morning as there was a wedding going on at 9am with bongo drums the whole Shabang!!!
Overnight stay midweek
Room very small and very noisy - you could hear all conversations in the corridors.
Outside view of a rolled up dirty carpet in the courtyard. Bed very lumpy and uncomfortable, 'side tables' were actually old office desk drawers. Booked in for breakfast at 8am, ordered promptyly but although there were only 4 other tables in the restuarant, had to chase up order at 8.30 and it arrived at 8.55am!!!. Overall would not stay again and would not recommend
A lovely old building with a very interesting history.
The room was cold the heating did not work in the room or the bath room. It had no double glazing and every little sound from outside could be heard. The six in the morning visit from the dustbin men was far from welcome, the sound of empty bottles rattling into the lorry was most impressive. Then to find that the hot water had all gone and the breakfast was dull and unappetizing sent us off in a grumpy mood for the day. we called at a supermarket and bought a breakfast for half the cost at the hotel and we then started to feel better.
When you drive up to the hotel it looks fantastic but from then on it was quite disappointing.
We stayed in the refurbished part of the hotel in a deluxe room , the room was very nice until we looked out of the window to see rolls of old carpet. That evening and the following morning we had no hot water, thought it was expensive for what we got and we got it £20 cheaper than the actual rate of £95.
A little quirky
On arrival checking clerk initially couldn't locate my reservation ,which had been misfiled .
First shown to room in stable block , lots of sheets and debris in corridors, room very dark and in need of redecoration , not all lights working. I declined this room then shown a recently modernised room with aircon, and modern lighting etc. unfortunately givens key for room already occupied. Third time with manager escorting me finally found room. Restaurant , housekeeping and reception staff all very friendly and helpful.
This is a very old building and as such needs some TLC.
The room was functional and basic. The Indian food in the restaurant was pretty ordinary and served on cold plates, as was the breakfast. It's certainly an impressive looking place as you drive up to it and the conference center is a modern building, which is an odd contrast in respect to the hotel. For one night it was reasonable value for money, but I couldn't fall in love with the place.
Fulfills basic needs better than my previous choice of hotel
Just booked my 3rd visit in 3 weeks which is testimony in itself.
Easy to get to...secluded with more than ample parking. Clean tidy rooms, neither small or large. The best wi fi signal I've experienced at 20Mg...and free. You can have english courses at dinner, but there's a good Asian menu I recommend. English breakfast as other guests suggest is poor...but this is my only criticism. All in all...better than most at this level.
It was quiet awesome to see the hotel come in to view behind the great gates.
Inside were period fireplaces and other features kept as original. The bedroom however was very modern. The bathroom was beautiful and very large. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept in yet,
In critism the selection of tea and coffee were not of a higher standard as you would expect from a 4* hotel. There was no hair dryer in the room and for whatever reason I didn't get my alarm call.
That being said, I had an enjoyable and very reasonably priced Indian restraunt and I enjoyed the whole stately home experience. I would definitely stay there again.
Good... But breakfast not included in high price
Room was well presented and in the newer part of the hotel.
Bed was comfortable the A\C was much appreciated in the room and the bathroom was clean and nice size. Drawbacks: we were next to the electric generators or transformers for the building so did get noisy but tv drowned that out, tv was tiny so could not read the text on the tv without getting up. Room was slightly small side for two grown men. On site facilities are pricey and for 75 a night I expected breakfast but this is charged at £8.99 each per person not the best value. However it was conveniently located and the hotel itself is very beautiful. Staff were helpful.
Good quality hotel clean and friendly a bit noisy on our stay as there was an Asian wedding there but this comes from booking a Saturday night.
Would recommend this hotel if staying in Slough.
