The Old Manse is more of an upmarket B & B than a hotel in my opinion, I prefer a hotel with a bar .
I was in room 9 which is near the front door which could have been a problem noise-wise but due to the type of people this property attracts was not a problem on my visit. The room itself was really good with all mod cons and lovely little touches. The only reason I did not mark the room higher was the shower was vey poor with hardly any water pressure. Lots of on site free car parking. Breakfasts were lovely with an excellent choice of starters before the full English which came piping hot. I never had an evening meal but judging by the breakfast I'm sure it would be really nice. Staff were lovely and very welcoming. I would have no hesitation at staying here again.
Nice place to stay
Really enjoyed my stay at the Old Manse Hotel - comfortable en-suite room, clean & tidy, great breakfast, quiet & convenient location - bonus was an extra hour in bed as the clocks changed.
Would be very happy to stay here again
A warm welcome and excellent breakfasts.
Room was very clean with a comfortable bed although the shower could do with an upgrade and the wardrobe was just a curtained off rail.
Nevertheless an enjoyable stay and would recommend this hotel for a short break and would stay again.
Friendly, family atmosphere.
The friendliness of the Old Manse was apparent on arrival whwn we were offered coffee.
The landlady was charming, helpfil and friendly and the staff could not do enough for us; while the food was well cooked and plentiful. Although there were other guests, it was quiet; probably die to the age and solidity of the house.
We were made very welcome on arriving and given the choice of two rooms as we had a dog .
Unfortunately I chose badly as the room smelled , especially the bathroom ,and the mattress rustled . I feel it needs a good updating especially as it was the most expensive room on our 6 day trip. For example there are dressing gowns for guests , but they looked past their best. Lovely owner , disappointing room for the price.
wedding accomodation in Pickering
I thought that the room rate was a little expensive for the quality of the hotel, which although friendly and clean, was quite 'tired' As my wife feels unable to breakfast because of her medical condition, this was included in the price, and not negotiable.
Perhaps an option to take room only a little cheaper?
My wife and I have stayed here several times, same family have been running the b&b for years, always consistent which is very hard to find these days, attention to detail, rooms excellent and food is fab.
There is nothing else to say except book here if you are staying Pickering, we have stayed at a well known place on the main street which is very expensive, but The Old Manse is far superior in everything.
