100% would recommend it to a friend
This hotel has a great atmosphere although the rooms are looking pretty dated now, the bathroom especially could do with a spruce up and the heating was noisy, but it is still my favourite stopover heading to Scotland.
The rooms are overpriced in my opinion and I don't stay here as often as I would if they were more competitive.
My stay at Westmorland Hotel
Stayed at three hotels in the space of a week, and this hotel topped them all. The others could learn from...... Location and scenery......loved it. Only downside for me was that it was next to a service station.....loved the farm shop though!!!
Gorgeous little hotel, really cold night when we came back from walking and there was a huge open fire with games and books you could play, the restaurant was surprisingly posh, quite expensive but afterwards we found out you could eat in the lounge for much cheaper options.
We ended up staying another night, the only downside was the bar and restaurant wernt open on New Year's Eve and the hotel is actually quite far from Keswick, Lake District, this being the nearest village about 30-40 minutes drive
We used the Hotel as a base for the Lakes but were not sure what it would be like.
We need not have worried, we were welcomed with big smiles and a warm friendly atmosphere. On the way to our room we passed a lovely lounge with a large roaring log fire, just brilliant. Our room was excellent, very clean and and adequate. The Dining room overlooked a stretch of running water with ducks swimming around, and a self help breakfast was first class. Our seven very enjoyable days there left us relaxed and rested. I would highly recommend it.
Booked ahead thankgoodness as this is a popular hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. My bedroom was clean and tastefully decorated.I enjoyed my evening meal very much, and had an excellent breakfast.I booked to stay on my return journey, and enjoyed my stay. Will return to this hotel again when am travelling southwards, and highly recommend it.
You wouldn't think you were staying at a services.
The location was perfect for our purposes, as we're we doing the Total Warrior event at Shap but I can imagine it being a good location for a lot of the attractions in the lakes. We ate in their restaurant, and whist arguably a little on the price side (perhaps because you'd have to drive to get to anywhere else) it was good quality food. I would definitely recommend.
More than 3 stars
We have stayed at 4 star hotels that were not of this quality.
From the moment we arrived the customer service we received from every member of staff was excellent. The room was spacious , comfortable and spotlessly clean. We had a great nights sleep as was totally silent, normally you hear some noise from other rooms but you wouldn't have known there were other guests round about. We ate dinner in the restaurant and the quality of the food was better than we had eaten at a so called gourmet evening earlier in our holiday. Breakfast was also really good with excellent service and quality ingredients. Finally the check out procedure was very fast and efficient and the reception staff were very pleasant and friendly. We are already planning a return visit to the hotel in a couple months time.
Excellent hotel, more than excellent food and very accommodating staff
High Quality & Good Value
Used this hotel as a convenient stop over to break up a car journey down M74/M6.
Did not arrive till quite late but check in was friendly and efficient. The room was a good size and very comfortable.
1st class full English breakfast over looking beautiful countryside. The special made this a very goo d choice and great value for our money.
Will definitely stay here again
Quite enjoyed my stay.
The hotel was easy to find and very comfortable. The room was spacious and clean. The restaurant food was fairly expensive but good portions and very tasty.
