Very Pleasant Stay

The hotel was very good.

The staff were extremely polite and accommodating. The hotel is currently undergoing some much needed modernisation but the building works were kept to a minimum and did not disrupt our stay. The spa facilities we excellent also.

Carnoustie Golf Hotel & Spa - a Bespoke Hotel

The exterior of the hotel is looking run down and in need of some painting, cleaning of windows etc.

There was an unpleasant smell in our bathroom. The surface of the table in our room was split and some of the other fitting need attention as well. We stayed in another 4 star hotel the night before and it was far superior and not much more expensive. It was hard to believe that they both have the same star rating.

Nice break

Had a lovely 1 night stopover.

Excellent evening meal, not too expensive and great breakfast for the price.

Satisfied customer

Some of the comments I read before hand about the hotel being in need of upgrading did worry me a little.

I arrived to find friendly staff and a clean room. Pool area was very nice. Will be checking in again very soon.

Rooms could be brought up to date slightly but view over golf course was fab.

Weather was horrendous during our stay unfortunately. But we loved our break away and would love to come back.

Dunhill links

Always look forward to staying at the Carnoustie Hotel but sadly its needing a little TLC, as a host course of the Dunhill links it did focus on the golf side with the paying customer being pushed to the back of the hotel to eat etc.

Staff very pleasant as always but becoming dated internally.

Very tired

Excellent location, however hotel very tired need of urgent upgrade, no doubt it will get face lift when the "open" golf tournament will be held.

Spend the money just now, would query the 4 star status. Staff are however very professional.

Change of Scenery

We are frequent 'night away ' folk, and always look for somewhere we have never been before and we saw the Carnoustie Golf Hotel.

Given that places like the Holiday Inn Express in Dundee was £90 a night and we know how basic they are, we were happy to pay the hotel room rate of £125 for a golf course view and breakfast, with full use of the leisure facilities. We were delighted with the room ( No 309 ) Very spacious, comfortable quiet nights sleep, and a stunning view, great to wake up to, despite us not being golfers.. The pool area was fine, albeit as there were some serious 'length swimmers ' I think putting in a lane for them would be more relaxing for the plodders like us and others as you had to dodge them all the time. Breakfast was very good, cooked to order, with lovely views again ...

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, golfer or not, if you are looking for a pleasant change of scenery, but pay to have a golf course view to avoid over looking a car park, it's worth it !
