Reviews - Watermead Guest House

3AA Assessed Guest House Ratings explained
83 High Street, Chard, TA20 1QT
TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award Winner.

Watermead is a friendly, family run Guest House where a warm welcome awaits you. An elegant Victorian villa located at the top of the High Street, but in a quiet position set back some 50 metres along our own private driveway.
Within our 9 comfortable bedrooms we offer a wide range of high quality bed and breakfast accommodation, suitable for both short and longer stays for either business or leisure.

All bedrooms have free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee, flat screen digital television, toiletries, hairdryer, alarm clock radio and central heating.

Our large private car park is directly in front of the house and has ample space for up to 12 vehicles. The shops, inns, restaurants and amenities of the town are just a short stroll away.

Freshly cooked, hearty English breakfast (or vegetarian/lighter options) made with locally sourced produce are served in our light and spacious dining room with conservatory overlooking the garden.

The historic town of Chard is an ideal base for exploring the many delights of Somerset, Devon and Dorset or for breaking the long journey to Cornwall. The Jurassic Coastline (for the keen fossil hunter!) and the ever-popular
River Cottage are both within a scenic 25 minute drive.

Visiting River Cottage
Trudy and David were excellent host, very attentive and always willing to help with any queries, their reccommendation of where to eat was beneficial and they also booked the restaurant for us. we stayed in room 9 which was spacious, even with a shower in the corner of it., ample storage space and even though we had T&C making facility in our room we were always asked if we would like Tor C and they would put the kettle on in the kitchen. The Guest room is very cosy with a History of the House and previous owners to read. the breakfast was Scrummy and we didn't have to wait too long for it. We would definitely stay here again

Cracking place to stay
Watermead House is a great place to stay at. We stayed here for a couple of nights and would definitely use again. Plenty of off street parking close to the premises which is a great asset. Very friendly and helpful owners Trudy & Dave and nothing was a problem including a nice pot of tea in the lounge. W M house is well situated to the town centre with plenty of eating places whatever your requirements from a takeaway to a quality meal, owners will recommend & book local restaurants for you. Bedroom was slightly quirky but bed was like home from home, nice and comfortable. Breakfast was top class which will certainly set you up for the day. Overall I would thoroughly recommend.
