Angels Share Hotel
Friendly hotel staff very helpful.
Not worth the money
The only positive thing about this room was the massive super king bed which my wife and myself both slept like babies in when there wasn't noise outside.
Apart from that the room was far from delux.
The balcony looked onto a dark alley full of bins of which during the night all we heard were banging and clashing of beer bottles being emptied from bar below. The noise didn't stop there!!!!!. Being positioned in the Robert Carlyle room 103 which is about 3 steps from reception and the lift all we heard through the paper thin walls were other patrons laughing and shouting as they awaited the lift downstairs. The bathroom was in need of updating to bring it up to spec with the room standard . It looked tired and basic. Handrails were missing from walls etc. There was also no heating or air conditioning thermostat that u associate with high end hotels. All that was present was the valve at bottom of the radiator which never worked, causing the radiator to be hot at the bottom and cold at the top causing the room too be a little cold. All in all the hotel looked amazing from the front and the initial experience as we walked into the bar and then our room was great, fantastically well looked after by the staff who helped us to our room but it soon damped the mood when we thought we were in for a romantic anniversarry weekend in a delux hotel when i don't believe delux was the right term or quality. A night at the premier inn would have been just as delux minus the super king bed!!. But then again a bed does not determine a luxury rating in my opinion. On a final note
I do not believe the price per room was acceptable for what is given. I could have got a premier inn for more than half the price I paid for the angel share and have all the same amenities . Was this just an unfortunate one off..... We will never know
Super stylish luxury hotel
Beautiful hotel with lovely unique rooms - loved that they are all named after famous Scots.
The rooms are spacious, spotless with a huge deep bathtub/shower and great toiletries/tea&coffee facilities. Didn't find the bed particularly comfortable though and the coffee in a bag is a bit of a faff but they are small niggles. Fab hotel overall, staff are lovely and although we didn't eat there, we did have amazing cocktails which weren't overpriced.
Nice hotel with polite and helpful staff room was clean.
Only problem was the room was above the bar which was very noisy until the music ended (we stayed a weekend) Room 110 also woken up when someone else in the next level had a shower the water pipes howled ?. OK if you are a young couple out on the town until late hrs. Could do with some bath mats in the shower / bath very slippy trying to get in out of shower just a matter of time until someone has an accident. Good location. The food we had was excellent. Would stay again but not in room 110 unless it was at least half the price we paid....
Rate all these points highly breakfast was amazing.
Room was clean enough however the lights by the bed needed dusted as they cup so hold dust but thats the only small negative . Staff were lovely and helpful . Very unique style which gave character and made it different
after carefully searching the internet for a really nice and impressive hotel for an overnight in Edinburgh, i picked Angels Share and i can honestly say it was perfect.
on the Saterday afternoon i asked my g/f of 5 years to marry me and on my arrival to the hotel they had set out the room the exact way i asked.friendly staff, clean rooms, good music and amazing food all top marks.would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good time
A lovely hotel in a lovely city
Just came back from a night with my friend at this lovely hotel.
Staff were friendly from start to finish and even got a free room upgrade from the guy who checked us in. The complementary tunnocks teacakes were a nice touch, and the room was decorated modern yet still having the Scottish touches to make it feel homely. A good location and, again, the staff were on hand to help us figure out how to spend our evening. Didn't get a chance to try out the food or the cocktails but that's on the cards for next time. So good we are planning our next say already. Definitely worth a try.
