Check in was good. Room is good. Bar service slow and not friendly and very pricey. Quiet room and a little warm. Awesome buffet breakfast. Quick checkout.
Good but could be better
We stayed at the Belfry for just one night.
Don't expect to walk into Nottingham from here though as its a 15 minute cab ride away. The hotel itself is clean and very well presented, with friendly reception staff. Our room was good but the shower was broken however there was a second shower over the bath, so all was not lost. Bar was ok but pricey (aren't they all!) however breakfast was terrible. Like warm buffet style, poor service and NO BACON . Really ?. Having asked for some and told it would be brought to the table, it never arrived :-( Would we stay again. Probably but I'd look elsewhere first.
We visit family in Nottingham approx.
three to four times a year, Christmas being one of them. The Belfry is always our first choice because of its friendly welcome, excellent service, good food and convenient for major roads and family. However, on our last stay we were unable to stay at the Belfry as you had a spa weekend, which we understand. However, we arrived approx 11.00 am which is the usual time of arrival and went to check in. We were not aware at that point how busy you had been the day before but when I approached the desk and the assistant looked at me and said hello I said that I was checking in. She literally reeled backwards and said with a stern face, 'check in' we are not checking in until 3pm, I don't have a room to give you. I thought she was assuming I wanted to book a room. I told her that we had booked the room and she said I know but we cannot let you in as we have to clean all of the rooms. There was no apology. There was no have you travelled far perhaps we could offer you a coffee in the bar - nothing. We finally checked in at just gone three. I understand that she was probably under pressure with such a function of large numbers but that was not our fault. The girl on the desk on the Monday was just the opposite, in fact recognised us as regular customers. That's why I scored 4 on the service. The first day was unacceptable, the second was the standard we are used which it is our first choice of hotel.
Fantastic 2 night stay all staff very friendly room very comfortable and great 2 nights sleep.
Forgot my morning call
Decor dated like 1970s interior however rooms quite spacious. Would say more like 3 star than 4 star tho. They forgot my morning call which could have been disastrous as I had an important meeting to go to and hadn't got my alarm clock with me. When
I told them this at reception when I checked out the receptionist kind of shrugged her shoulders and didn't really offer an apology or explains room as to why this had happened!!.
Room and leisure club fantastic, hotel understaffed and the service was a let down.
The food was bought out on a dirty plate from the bar and felt embarrassed for the waiter that I had to walk back over to tell him . Perhaps if these hotels managed / incentivised their staff in the proper manner then their performance would reflect this.
